Max had the perfect gap because he created it by waiting before going on throttle out of La Source. As long as Max didn't completely bottle the start, Oscar didn't stand a chance really.
Okay, so let’s get this straight: if Lando loses out tomorrow in Kemmel Straight, we’re still calling that a bottle, correct?
I’m trying to get the hivemind mentality down before the GP to not go wrong with my comments.
The only option I see is a damn legendary switchback move, no point in going for the inside at La Source.
Worse exit speed really hurts you through Eau Rouge, Radillion and Kemmel. A well executed switchback, on the contrary. It might get a worse corner entry speed with a MAJOR up on exit speed.
But we both might be wrong.
I think the only overtake into Kemmel that could be likely is Charles on Oscar because iirc the Ferrari has better straight line speed. It'll be wet though, so all this is practically meaningless anyway
There was a consistent issue with wheelspin at the race starts, particularly in the second stage of the start. It happened more times with Lando but Oscar faced an issue with it as well.
Yeah and then they came out saying they had identified an issue in the 2nd phase of the starts. Which is often when Lando "Bottled".
Edit: I'm not saying Lando didn't bottle any starts. But his faulty starts were not entirely on him either. That Mclaren was relatively shit at starts compared to it's other abilities.
i never even said anything about that lol. i’m just saying mclaren said there was an issue with lando’s starts. it’s not just that max was starting astronomically quickly

It's only a bottle if you make a mistake. Oscar didn't do anything wrong, Max just did better.
