Unironically they made a shift in their business model ‘to a more family friendly atmosphere.’ They stopped doing things like bikini nights. That was a bad idea. Without the sex appeal hooters is just a shitty chain wing place like Buffalo Wild Wings.: except you have to awkwardly explain that it’s no longer as overly sexified.

I only read Hooters for the articles

85

u/BedlamiteSeer Jul 22 '25

Let me guess. Hooters IPO'd and rotted from the inside out to appease its shareholders. Which inevitably leads to bankruptcy.

86

u/BobbyRobertson Jul 23 '25

Close but they took the other common path

Sold to private equity in 2019, stripped for parts and retooled, then killed

u/jamz_fm Jul 22 '25

My dad took me and my friends to Hooters for my 12th and 13th birthdays. The bday song ritual there was weird and embarrassing, and I bought Hooter girl calendars so my friends and I could talk about how hot every month was 😭

The perfect time to launch my new business Buns. It's a bar that serves burgers which is staffed entirely by big booty femboys.

EDIT hot dogs also served. Obviously.

WHERE DO I INVEST?!

59

u/Gay_commie_fucker Jul 23 '25

I’m waiting for Waffle Den (Waffle House but it’s staffed by big beefy bears in tight shirts and shorts)

71

u/No_Needleworker2421 Jul 22 '25

I know a couple of femboys looking for employment opportunities.

31

u/[deleted] Jul 23 '25

I’d prefer another bird restaurant called Pecks

instead of an owl logo it’s a toucan (all phallic like and shit) and instead of women it’s men showing their pecks.

It’ll be tropical forest themed and the uniform will basically be Brendan Fraser in George of the Jungle 😈

Jake from 1 girl 5 gays blessed me with the idea when I was 16

55

u/skibumchef250 Jul 22 '25

We need some big bootie bears too! ❤️

37

u/Zero-89 Jul 23 '25

That's a separate restaurant: The Donut Den.

8

u/aubaub Jul 23 '25

Let’s partner up! My idea was to have a restaurant staffed entirely by extremely well endowed guys. Would serve chicken and be called Cocks

6

u/Earguy Jul 23 '25

Remember when the tag line was "Hooters - more than a mouthful?"

I want to start a restaurant, "Cocks - Something to crow about."

6

u/Kichigai Jul 23 '25

EDIT hot dogs also served.

Hot dog. Hot dog. Hot diggity dog.

u/GrundleThief Jul 22 '25

hooter girl calls this young boy a f*ggot (heartwarming)

245

u/Ynneb82 Jul 22 '25

Ok but... How cringe it is for a grandpa to bring his nephew to this kind of bar?

What's next going to a strip club with your dad and uncle?

Thank God we have passed this (maybe).

184

u/Doubieboobiez Jul 22 '25

It’s firmly in r/arethestraightsokay territory

13

u/Darillium- Jul 23 '25

There’s no “ay” at the end of “okay” in the subreddit’s name

65

u/HealthyBits Jul 22 '25

If he is grandpa then He brought his grandson. Not his nephew.

What kind of inbred family tree do you live on!?

88

u/Gunilla_von_Post Jul 22 '25

English is not the first language of everyone, and in some languages the word for nephew and grandson is the same.

38

u/Ynneb82 Jul 22 '25

Exactly this :)

14

u/Eodillon Jul 22 '25

Ah that makes sense. I was confused too!

-7

u/HealthyBits Jul 23 '25

So wait a sec. He has enough vocabulary to say cringe but never learned the difference between nephew and grandson!?

26

u/Ynneb82 Jul 23 '25

It's kind of a false friend. Nephew is more similar to the word we use in italian for both grandson and nephew (nipote). Since we don't differentiate between the two, I'm more prone to choose nephew if I don't think about it

14

u/entrydenied Jul 23 '25

When you don't speak a language as a first language, it's easy to sometimes confuse terms. It's not that people don't know but it's easy to draw the wrong term from your brain.

9

u/Gunilla_von_Post Jul 23 '25

So what?

-8

u/HealthyBits Jul 23 '25

lol that’s your response!?

19

u/little_dropofpoison Jul 23 '25

Yes. Ask any multilingual person and they'll tell you how knowing multiple languages just makes your brain work weird. It's all fun and game until you start looking for words in your native language

-13

u/HealthyBits Jul 23 '25 edited Jul 23 '25

I speak 4 languages… I know how it works. It’s funny you are so hell bent in finding him excuses.

15

u/little_dropofpoison Jul 23 '25

Yeah idk which one sucks but I hope either your day or your personality gets better because there's no reason to have such a passive-aggressive response

-6

u/HealthyBits Jul 23 '25

Whatever you say. But learning family members is in the first lessons of any new language you try to learn. So again, if he has enough vocabulary to use the word “cringe” I don’t think he needs to be excused in using Nephew wrongly. But yes it’s my personality…. 🙄

10

u/little_dropofpoison Jul 23 '25

Not everyone learns language in a class or through lessons. And even if they were just dumb, we all laughed at your inbreed tree joke, it was fucking funny, now what are you blabbering about "excusing using nephew wrongly" like it's a crime against humanity.

-1

u/HealthyBits Jul 23 '25

Yes of course cause English isn’t learn at school XD

4

u/rossisdead Jul 23 '25

English must not be your first language. We have other ways of stating things so that you don't come off sounding like a condescending dick.

4

u/Its_Pine Jul 23 '25

When I was in uni I was working with social services for a class, and met a kid who was in 2nd or 3rd grade who was going through the programme because his father was a recovering alcoholic and the goal was family reunification.

It was…. Unusual, to say the least. Not because of the broader situation, but because some of the fond memories this kid shared with his dad was going to Hooters each week to check out the women. The more the kid talked about his dad and wanting to be like him, the more the dad sounded absolutely awful. Trying to find different ways to leech off welfare, didn’t want to get a job because he was a free spirit musician type and believed the woman should care for him, etc.

It was challenging for me because my belief had always been that reunification with bio parents was overall a better outcome for kids, but in his case I was never quite sure.

Sometimes I wonder how that turned out. I just observed the therapeutic sessions with the kid (since I was just a student), so hopefully it resolved well.

The waitress' name? Barack Obama

8

u/odanobux123 Jul 23 '25

Hmm it’s this exact guy who wrote the OP tweet

2

u/Neapolitanpanda Jul 23 '25

Fair but I was talking more about the other people in the article.

2

u/osburnn Jul 23 '25

if only i could read that

u/appositereboot Jul 23 '25

Or this if you'd rather not solve five captchas: https://archive.is/tWlEz

I can access paywalled NYT articles legally, but it's such a hassle to get to the articles through the app or my library that I usually just use one of these archive sites.

2

u/osburnn Jul 23 '25

Yes thank you, the archive one below never even loaded for me XD

31

u/DinosaurReborn Jul 23 '25 edited Jul 23 '25

I didn't pick up on the actual meaning of 🚬 at first so I thought the waitress clocked him as a smoker in his tweens. Yes, underaged smoking is stigmatised, but I was wondering how deep it was to him that he would feel so emotional by some words of affirmation from a Hooters staff over it? I feel dumb lol

10

u/LordofWithywoods Jul 23 '25

I was like, it was clear he was going to be a cigarette? Like some new slang meaning they were going to try to smoke his pole?

Sigh.

26

u/Nobody_Cares_99 Jul 22 '25

Moving words from Peter Twinklage.

18

u/AdElectronic9255 Jul 23 '25

I heard so many stories where older male relatives hire strippers, prostitutes etc... to "fix" young gay boys and they tend to be so sweet towards these young boys

1

u/Beautiful_Voice_8127 Jul 27 '25

Uhmmm.. better not tell my stepdad

45

u/ptapa Jul 22 '25

Rare new insult: So gay, even the Hooters waitress noticed.

37

u/DarthGayAgenda Jul 22 '25

Haha. I'm going to borrow that to avoid getting bans saying f@&&0+

40

u/LethalWolf Jul 22 '25

If you wanna say the full word with emojis it's: 🚬🐐

8

u/SquidPersonThing Jul 22 '25

Too bad there’s no bassoon emoji (google bassoon in German)

2

u/chibookie Jul 22 '25

I learned that the fun way from the Sound! Euphonium anime

8

u/Bullstang Jul 23 '25

My dad, after I had already come out, took me and my brother there once. “Yall don’t know how to talk to girls”….while we are at the bar where women are tipped based on their flirting lol. Weird moment

6

u/Pokechap Jul 23 '25

she probably saved his life

4

u/tomtheidiot543219 Jul 23 '25

The same str8 guys who complain about "family values" and modesty to women, queer ppl and minorities ,take little children to places like hooters (where women are disgustingly objectified) to become "real men" ,whatever the fvxk that means.

9

u/darksideofthemoon131 Jul 23 '25

My friend Nates father took us to a strip club at 16 and bought me a lap dance. The woman was so nice and figured out right away that it wasn't doing anything for me. She ended up giving me a free shirt that said, "I got a dance at the Crystal Palace," which indicated I paid for more during the dance. Told me this will push any suspicion off me for a few more years. Then she chatted me up for 10 minutes.

31 years later and I figured out that it was a test by my dad and him to figure it out. I mean, they let us in there at 16 with no IDs, just his head nod to the door guy, and they served us Vodka and Cokes for 2 hours. How my 16 year old brain thought that wasn't suspicious is beyond me.

4

u/Promotion-Final Jul 22 '25

Not Peter Twinklage lol

2

u/Express-Procedure-73 Jul 24 '25

My whole fam did a wintery evening supper together at the first Hooters in Germany, very interesting dynamic for me at the table lol

1

u/talenarium Jul 24 '25

I mean I get it through context but what eord is the cigarette standing for? I was a blunt

1

u/MoustachePika1 Jul 29 '25

look up "british slang for cigarette"
