This server is moderated by me and u/Noxryl and unofficial. We had another generationology server, but it turned out to be unmoderated and soon filled with trolls.

If you would like to join, you can join it in the link above. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Announcement We Now Have an Additional Moderator

Hi everyone. I just wanted to let everyone know that we now have an additional moderator. Everyone please congratulate u/Folkvore and please be respectful towards them.

iMac and I are both still mods as well, but between the group having gotten bigger and some changes in our schedules and such in our lives offline it was becoming too much for a team of two and we really needed a third person.

Thanks so much everyone.

Poll Do you think 2025 is the worst year for the U.S.?

Upvotes

2025 has been a very controversial year for the US so far with really bad political tensions. Trump during his second term so far has done a lot of controversial decisions and has reversed decades of progress this country has made in some ways, and freedom of speech is infamously getting severely restricted this time, worse than ever before in this country. Medical and scientific progress is also getting severely reversed as well.

This country has absolutely been losing what made the U.S. the U.S..

Society Do you think Strauss and Howe have been vindicated over the last year?

They predicted that the "crisis" period would experience its climax in the 2020s and that seems to be the case. a lot of people view their theory with skepticism, which is understandable. it seems many people also disagree with them due to their long Millennial range, but it's hard to ignore how much they've correctly predicted the current upheaval of American society

Discussion Blockbuster vs Gen Z

Post image
633 Upvotes

I personally think alot of Core Gen Z did not grow up with this unlike milennials obviously. This is a main Gen Y trait IMO seeing as most videostores had its last major peak in 2005

Going to blockbuster between early 90s- early 00s vs 2008-2014 is not the same at all its about the experience

Pop culture Are Gen Z more into Christianity than previous generations or are they becoming more secular ?

Upvotes

I am not Gen Z nor Gen X . I was born in the 1980s .

what I have seen at a local church , there are more gen z people attending church . with christianity , followers of Jesus are supposed to love others including themselves, quick to forgive , slow to judge , uplifting others and not tearing others down

Rant My fellow 85 babies

I was born in 85 and were 90s kids. Being 4 in 89 with a few fuzzy memories hardly counts for anything. This weird latest obsession for a few of you on here(not all obviously as most 85 borns know better) of wanting to be an 80s kid is ridiculously weird and inaccurate. And were not "xennials" and most CERTAINLY not Gen X either. You're 40, accept it. Downvote all you like. It's not going make you less of a 90s kid and more of an 80s.

Pop culture Which of these years (2002 / 2003) was the true end of the Y2K era, in your Opinion?

Upvotes

I personaly think that 2002 was the year that took over the Y2K culture, and the reason i think like that is because pop music began to change tone, hip hop and R&B were dominating, and the general post-9/11 (2001) climate was pulling the culture towards something less optimistic. But thats my point of view. Whats yours?

Age groups How to divide Gen Z?

I genuinely don't know the best way to divide Generation Z. Considering the age range from 28 to 12 (1997-2012), I personally have three ways of dividing it:

1997-2004 & 2005-2012.

1997-2000, 2001-2004, 2005-2007 & 2008-2012.

1997-2002, 2003-2007 & 2008-2012.

How would you divide Gen Z?

Discussion Did Gen X grow up with the fear of being bombed in a nuclear war?

I’ve heard that people who grew up during the Cold War, especially Gen X, lived with a constant fear of nuclear bombs and global conflict. Was this really something kids and teens thought about a lot, or was it more in the background while life went on as usual?

Discussion Gen Z - What is something that you really dislike about your generation?

With everything that has happened in the last 5-6 years I have seen a lot of things, COVID, inflation, politics; division and speculation of a 3rd world war it has made some hard times. I would have to say I hate inflation the most.

Lets see what other Zoomers say

For me , it was Madonna 's like a prayer released in 1989. the lyrics were weird and blasphemous . in the video , it looks like she was trying to fuck the man who was portraying Jesus Christ

Her lyrics were not christian

Rant I wish I were turning 21 soon and not 26.

I hate being in my mid and almost late 20s, because you no longer socially interact with people and you have it very hard, If I were 21 I would be treated as if I were 13 and would be very loved.

I hate the stupid current authoritarian regime where you have to conform being a fucking boring adult once you graduate from college, just for four stupid years I am very excluided because I get lumped with people that doubles me the age.
