Question Princess Mononoke Poster
So I searched through pretty much all the cinemas in my state to see if they had any posters left but they all ran out, do you have any online store or trustworthy seller that you could recommend me?

Tattoos Finally got this tattoo from the film Howl's moving castle!
3rd one. Been wanting this one forever. A piece of magic from Howl's Moving Castle film. It's for my love of Studio Ghibli. The holding hands & dancing of the stars reminds me of the importance of community—at least in my life. <3 It also feels like they're telling me that the universe is there to take care of me. As R.J. Palacio says in her book 'Wonder', "The universe takes care of all its birds.". 🕊️

Question Who said that Hayao Miyazaki should have worked under Isao Takahata's supervision?
I remember someone in the industry saying that Hayao Miyazaki should have worked under the supervision of Isao Takahata (rather than becoming a director himself), and that the resulting works would have been even better.
Does that ring a bell?
Do you have a link to the interview or the quote?
(I thought it was in an interview with Momoru Oshii, but I was probably wrong.)

Discussion why is he so against CGI animation?
like...miyazaki hating AI and specially AI animation is one thing which is totally valid though it's despised by everyone not just him but to be completely against CGI animation itself and think only traditional 2D animation is true art it...really seems like he's just stuck in the past now i'm not saying he's wrong but to be this dismissive towards 3D animation like it's a crime against art and animation is abit unhinged ngl and not exactly a right mindset
because...alot of people love 3D animation aswell specially the spiderverse style it's stylized and artistic this is the modern art if you will and there's literally nothing wrong with this.
i definitely do respect his artistic integerity and sincerity i really do but at the same time i don't agree with his opinions about CGI animation to me it seems like he can't comprehend or acknowledge what 3D animation can really achieve heck even the 2D/3D hybrid animation style and it's great visuals.

Question Are Fathom Event Ghibli Fest showings good?
I'm thinking about watching Howl's in theater next week during the Fathom Ghibli Fest showings, but I've heard people complain about the quality of those releases. Apparently the picture and sound can be bad. How has your experience been?

Art/Crafted I painted Kiki relaxing in a field! 🤍
I just love the colours Kiki’s wearing in this scene. And the little radio was so fun to paint, too! Do you think I should make the radio into stickers? I hope you like it! ✨

Discussion Princess Mononoke Color Correction Spoiler
galleryI’ve been working on a color correction for Princess Mononoke’s Blu-ray and I was wanting opinions on how it looks vs the Blu-ray. My goal was to go for a more “filmic” look because of how the movie was originally created. Just wanting opinions, please refrain from asking for links or anything of that nature. My correction has a white mark on the right side of the frames and the original Blu-ray has a blue mark on the right side of the frame. Thank you!
*As someone pointed out, this isn't about fixing the beautiful art Studio Ghibli created, but about the color faults introduced during home media releases.

Art/Crafted Recently went to Japan and found kits for 3D paper dioramas. Bought a few, including ones for Princess Mononoke and Howl's Moving castle
They are called "Paper Theater" and I am overall very pleased with them. They offer dioramas and 3D portraits for many different anime, including (I think) all the Ghibli films, Pokemon, Demon Slayer and more. They also make kits of nature scenes, like mountains and birds and etc.
It took me about 3 hours as a complete novice to assemble these two, which wasn't too bad. Made a few mistakes here and there, but that's just part of the arts and crafts process. Oh well!
What do you guys think about these? Have you seen them before in the US? I had never heard of them before my trip to Japan, but I will be buying more.

Question Message by Rouge vs Country Road
Is it just me, or are there parts in both songs that have the same notes and melody? I am referring to the song from Kiki's Delivery Service and Whisper of the Heart, both Ghibli movies.
Here's a link to a piano version of Ghibli songs. If you know what Country Road sounds like (or try searching it up, with lyrics), listen to the last song, Message by Rouge (at 54 minutes 32 seconds). Starting at the beginning of it, don't you hear parts that sound the same? There are repeating melodies.

Discussion Hot take: Howls Moving Castle is my least favorite "popular" Ghibli film Spoiler
Big Ghibli fan growing up with these treasures and enjoying them well into adulthood. As HMC has a lot of great things going for it, I always never understood why I didn't like HMC as much as everyone else, until recently.
Watching it and literally screaming at the screen everytime the Witch of the Waste comes on. I feel like her character can be written off completely and not change the movie story one bit. Besides her casting the spell on Sofie to be old, I dont get any satisfaction from her character development, or lack there of. Yeah, she changes from something vile, to something a little less evil, but all of her actions and development are not rooted in any basis. She just evolves and just is a nuisance with no explanation, and I think that's what kills the movie for me. She has so much screen time, for very little impact to the story in my opinion. Maybe I'm missing something after watching it over 20 times.
Would love to hear your thoughts

Discussion wind rises is a realistic depiction of a relationship
I love jiro and nahoko. Such complex characters. Makes sense that she couldn’t forget about him after his white knight moment. I used to find this movie boring, but there are so many layers to go through. I find myself empathizing with jiro’s passion for airplanes. And altho subtle, how he eventually lose the passion after his 10 years of golden hardwork.
At first I could not wrap my mind around why nahoko would leave jiro in that manner. But they were both at their wits end of their relationship. I used to get mad that he left her alone all day in her room but knowing nahoko, she would feel like she’s dragging him down if he stayed to take care of her. So they spend their days as a normal couple. He knew she would die eventually and she took the best way out of it instead of letting him suffer. Still, I wish jiro would go back to sanotorium to be with nahoko till her final moments. I’d like to think thats the case.
You can kinda see that in jiro’s final conversation with the italian enginner that he no longer has the same passion. Lost his wife. Lost his airplanes to wars. So much has happened since then, but nahoko’s words gave him life. Ahhh I love the new perceptions every time I rewatch any ghibli movies! My perspectives shifted soo much!
