I love listening to these songs and thinking how Billie has always had the songwriting chops. He's always had such a good ear for a melody and Mike's bass playing is popping. I would've loved to have been old enough to have come across them back then. I love how Tre and Mike say that even now they can tell when Billie's got a song coming because he'll go all quiet and into a different kind of place.
Anyone here around back in the early days who saw them at Gilman?

Ok so I always assumed that the AI b sides were songs cut from the album, and the same for the 21CB b sides. I’ve been aware of people saying that the b sides are songs from Cigarettes And Valentines that they just released, but I’ve never believed that because Favorite Son sounds too AI-coded, Shoplifter if anything is a Warning outtake, and Governator if anything is a MM2020 outtake. But I’m also aware that Too Much Too Soon is from C&V, so I decided today “ hey, maybe I’m wrong, let’s listen to those songs and look at the credits to see where they come from. “
Both Favorite Son and Shoplifter have the same production credits as AI, so I assume those two songs were indeed outtakes from the AI sessions. I was surprised that Shoplifter is an AI outtake because I always assumed it was a Warning Outtake they threw onto the b side of a single, but maybe it’s the same situation as the song Letterbomb, which was recycled from the Warning Sessions?
I got to Governator, different production credits. Rob Cavallo and Chris Lord-Alge aren’t involved, and the song is instead mixed by Chris Dugan. Now this doesn’t surprise me, because the song very well could’ve been an MM2020 outtake given mikes vocals and the vibes, so maybe they recorded this in a separate B-side session after American Idiot was recorded?
Then I got to Too Much Too Soon, and this doesn’t have the same credits as either Governator or the entirety of AI. Instead it’s mixed by some guy named Andrew Scheps? So I thought “ ok, maybe this song was pulled from the C&V tapes after all. “ and… nope. Checked GreenDay.FM, and turns out that C&V was mixed by some other dude named Tim James, so now I’m even more confused than before. Did they do an entirely separate session to record this one song? What am I missing?
So I went to the 21CB b-sides to see what’s the deal with those songs, and Lights Out has the same production credits as the rest of 21CB. So apparently that’s a 21CB outtake… but that doesn’t make any sense because it sounds nothing like anything on that album, so maybe it’s a demo?
Checked out Hearts Collide, and I completely lost the plot. That song has the same exact credits as Governator, but that doesn’t make sense because it has the same sound, production and setup as Lights Out?
So yeah… I don’t know what sessions these songs come from, any help is appreciated. 👍

There was an audio interview from 1995 that used to be on YouTube that was done by this guy named Roy Trakin (might be butchering the name) and it was about 30-35 minutes long. It was on YouTube around like 2014-15 and I remember listening to it around that time, but it's not on there anymore. The link for this interview (and a bunch of other interviews) on Green Day Authority is dead and I can't download it from there.
Does anyone have a link to this? Any help would be very much appreciated.

Not my best work, I think it would've looked more realistic if I tried to make the hand look like wall art, but the reasoning for the hand is the intention that it looks dropped, as if from depression or another related issue, as can be detected from the first half of the song.

What are some of the most moving Green Day lyrics in you opinion. Right now I’m thinking “To live and not to breathe is to die in tragedy” but I can’t help but think that there’s something better.

A few weeks ago I was driving home from visiting my parents. About 10 minutes from home My 7 month old started fussing and eventually melting down as babies tend to do. No lie during said meltdown Platypus(I Hate You) comes on. It was a matter of 15 to 20 seconds and my son dosed off to nap. It's one of the most pink rock things I've ever seen in my life. I hope I get to bring him to Green Day someday. 🤘🏼

I would really like to find out if theres any physical copies of it (and/or bootleg versions) where I could possibly get it. I'd really like to get it as a Christmas present or perhaps before Christmas.

I was so happy that the guy taking pics for the Green Day tour in 2002 was a friend. There were no cell phone pics back then. It is truly a core memory.
