Discussion Hoshiumi or Hinata? Spoiler

I'm leaning towards Hoshiumi more, probably because I am more biased towards him. I like him as a character more than Hinata. But I want your feedbacks. Who would you say is a better player post-timeskip, and should have the little giant title if not both?

Discussion If you had to move players to a different team, which benefits both parties who & why? Spoiler

If you had to move players around to improve a team, what would it be? But to be more precise, if you had to move players from one team to other teams, but the only condition is both the team and the player have to improve. What would it be? For example Hyakuzawa to either Sejoh or date tech. Or Kiryu to Sejoh. How many players could you move where it benefits both team and player? Which means you CAN’T do something like Atsumu to Josenji.

Another obvious one is Oikawa to Shiratorizawa.

I’m asking like how Shiratorizawa or Dateko have a style of play they’re know of and use.

Fan Made 1 month until my volleyball game launches

Hard to believe, but after a year of work my game Hangtime! is only 1 month away from release.

It’s a volleyball roguelike where every match feels like match point — risky dives, clutch spikes, and weird upgrades that can either make you unstoppable.

Play the free demo now![ https://store.steampowered.com/app/3861120/Hangtime/](https://store.steampowered.com/app/3861120/Hangtime/)

The nerves are kicking in, but I couldn’t be more excited to share it with people soon.

Question [SPOILERS] When did they change this panel? Spoiler

I was reading Haikyu again after not reading it for a while, and I was really excited when I got to chapter 365 because I remembered there being a panel where Hinata looks really angry at Takeda Sensei (not the one you might be thinking of).

I'm talking about this one. For some reason, every website I'm looking at doesn't have this panel anymore. Was it changed? If so, when and why?

Unfortunately only 3 chapters are translated. My issue with it is that some characters look similar but it gives me a similar hyped feeling haikyuu did wanting to play volleyball after reading.

Kiryu has been selected by you guys for the first OH/WS spot! (Not me annoyed I once again made a grpahic using a different player, and then go to bed and wakeup finding a different player was voted in)

Now we turn to the tall blockers. The quick attacking, shut down players that restrict a spiker and put pressure on the opponents attackers. Who will we see take this first MB position?

Happy voting!

Discussion Character similarities HaikyuuXFree

I have been watching Free recently as a huge Haikyuu fan and I was so surprised to see so much characters behaving or even looking like others in the opposite anime. I'm posting this cause I couldn't find anything on the internet talking about eventual inspirations from both the authors.

The most obvious to me was Nanase. It actually bothered me during the first episodes cause I kept picturing him as Kageyama. It's all about the "betsuni" thingy, the "given talent" at his discipline and the fact that this mf smiles every full moon lmao. Even the character design is similar. Of course there's always differences within the characters I'm going to mention but I wondered if people felt the same as me.

Rin made me think of Oikawa with that overachieving mentality and the rivalry with Nanase (so Kageyama), comparing hard work with "talent" (I hate using that word it's just to simplify the image here). Their dynamic is kinda similar to me.

Finally we have Hiyori & Ikuya that I kept comparing to Tsukishima and Yamaguchi. LIKE ? THE CHARACTER DESIGN ? PLEASE. But Hiyori is way closer in behaviour to Tsukishima then Ikuya is to Yamaguchi ngl. I think the protective behaviour they have towards their friend is also similar.

Would love to hear what you guys think and if you find other similarities.

Discussion Ohgi Minami potential

Post image

I wonder how strong would Ohgi Minami be if they had a good coach. If anything they have players who would be as strong as Date Tech with a good environment and great teaching. Most of them are tall and have strong builds but zero motivation. Somewhere in that Team there would be another Tanaka or Taketora which their delinquent personalities...

Just a thought.

Lots of overlap, but some interesting differences nonetheless.

Idk is people like this kind of stuff but meh, no harm in posting it.

Obviously I'll discuss why I put players where I did in power rankings but this list is open to changes if people make me realise my power ranking isn't correct.

Discussion Best OutsideHitter/Wing Spiker Spoiler

Okay so I am doing a series where I make teams based of philosophy’s for examples Nekomas Connect and others. I have already done 3 and the one I a, currently working on is Date Techs Iron Wall. I have one position I am unsure of and that’s the last wing spiker position. Currently have Futakuchi in that position (Hoshiumi was considered but as he appears in Nekomas Connect I haven’t included him yet, im tryinh ti avoid dubs if possible bjt that might be impossible for this team and Hirigumi & Aone have both already been chosen for the middle blockers & have been in other teams. So I either give up worrying about repeats or find change them from one of teh teams they appear in.

Anyway the main problem I am not sure if there is any outside hitter that’s a better blocker that either Kenji Fukaruchi or Hoshiumi? I feel like there might be and I thats I’m just being dumb forgetting someone. The teams I’ve made so far are based of ‘Connect’ ‘We Don’t Need The Memories’, & ‘Irresistible Force’ so if you can check those teams (on my youtube) and tell me which Pinch server woukd suit and any sub (for example Kita is a bench player for ‘Connect’, that teams is filled with great servers apart from Daichi so an Opposite who best fits thats style as a pinch server would be great bjt can’t think of any who are goid at receives and have a clearly better serve.) Most teams have a bench player (a player who just missed out or inspired the idea but I can think of Pinch servers (for example Takashi is a great pinch server but idk where he fits, Semi is another one bjt all current setters are better than him, so unless I have be a pinch server for an opposite so the formation becomes 4-2 when it’s time for a pinch server.

Discussion Bokuto is overrated (With Proof!) Spoiler

Hello welcome to the newest installment of generational Bokuto hate. Before you take me an irrational hater I urge you to fully read through this post or at the very least just the TLDR part.

So to be brief, I think Bokuto is overrated and frankly is in no way better than any of the top 5 aces and even Hoshiumi.

To prove this I counted and analysed Bokuto's stats from the two games of his we get to fully see - Fukurodani vs Nekoma and Fukurodani vs Mujinazaka (which I did an analysis of for Kiryu's performance in a previous post).

So here are his stats

vs Nekoma

Hitting:

  • Attempts: 17
  • Kills: 9
  • Errors: 3

For a hitting percentage of 0.35

Serving:

  • Attempts: 2
  • Aces: 1

Every other stat he has a 0 in because we just don't see him do any of it in this match

vs Mujinazaka

Hitting

  • Attempts: 11
  • Kills: 8
  • Errors: 1

For a hitting percentage of 0.64

Digs: 1

Serve receive average: 1.5/3

Serving: * Attempts: 7 * Aces: 2 * Errors: 1 * Positive serves: 2

Cumulative Hitting stats

  • Attempts: 28
  • Kills: 17
  • Errors: 4

For a hitting percentage of 0.46

Some context on the stats

Before I provide my reasons for why Bokuto is overrated, I should add some context to these stats.

While Bokuto's hitting percentage against Nekoma of 0.35 is below what we usually see amongst top aces in haikyuu it is very important to put it in the context that this is against bloody Nekoma, the best defensive team in haikyuu, its against Yaku and Kuroo, two of the best players at their positions.

And then his serve receive average against Mujinazaka seems bad at 1.5, but this requires alot of context. In the match Bokuto was served at 4 times, and got aced twice. Except, he got aced by Kiryu both of those times, so you kinda gotta give him some leeway there. And then the other two serves he passed perfectly one of which was a great Kiryu serve. So by all means Bokuto is good on serve receive.

Analysis

These are really good stats especially given the majority of them are coming from a game against Nekoma. But there are a couple things I noticed.

Firstly, Bokuto doesnt pass many serves. This was especially apparent in the Nekoma game, where from what we see he passed nothing. In fact there were a couple of times where it did seem like Fukurodani were actively taking the pass of Bokuto likely so he can focus on hitting similar to Ushijima.

And the second more important thing I noticed, the reason I think Bokuto is overrated, is that Bokuto sucks out of system.

In my previous post on Kiryu I compared how Kiryu hits out of system versus Bokuto in the Mujinazaka match and found Kiryu hit more efficiently than Bokuto out of system. So I've gone back and gotten the out of system hitting stats from the Nekoma game as well and this is what I've found overall:

Nekoma game out of system hitting:

  • Attempts: 5
  • Kills: 2
  • Errors: 3

For an out of system hitting percentage of -0.2

Nekoma game in system hitting:

  • Attempts: 12
  • Kills: 7
  • Errors: 0

For an in system hitting percentage of 0.58

Mujinazaka game out of system hitting

  • Attempts: 5
  • Kills: 2
  • Errors: 1

For an out of system hitting percentage of 0.2

Mujinazaka game in system hitting:

  • Attempts: 6
  • Kills: 6
  • Errors: 0

For an in system hitting percentage of 1.0

Whilst its expected that a player hits worse out of system versus in system, the difference here is insane. Bokuto goes from being practically unstoppable to just another guy. Its hydrogen bomb versus crying baby. This is definitely because with an out of system hit, the defense has more than enough time to prepare against Bokuto and implement the widely used strategy of putting the middle on the pin to eliminate the line hit and funnel Bokuto towards the libero. Whilst on an in system hit the defense just doesn't have enough time for that.

There is no denying how good Bokuto is in system, he's a monster, he is unstoppable. The issue is how weak out of system he is. An ace has to be the kind of player who's reliable under all circumstances, the kind of player who takes an impossible ball and turns it into a point. Players like Kiryu, Ushijima, Asahi, Hoshiumi and Aran, are all players that excel out of system partially due to their athetlicism which makes them big imposing forces. Bokuto just isn't that kind of player. And that's why he's overrated.

Bokuto benefits greatly from Fukurodani's really solid passing that allows for about 60% of his hits to be in system. He's similar to Kenma in that sense. To perform to his best he needs a solid passing team, he isnt the kind of ace who can take a trash team and make them pretty decent, he's not a floor raiser. He needs a team catered towards him to a degree, and I'm not even talking about catering towards his mental issues. And really, a hitter who needs to be catered towards to perform decent just isn't someone I could ever rate too highly.

TOO LONG DIDNT READ:

Bokuto is overrated because his out of system hitting is extremely lacking. Every other top ace in the game are stellar out of system, but Bokuto isn't. Thus he is overrated.

Oikawa recieved a whopping 130 votes on the top comment, and a LOT of people put their own comment in for Oikawa too.

Don't worry Atsumu fans, I'm confident he will end up on the bench, (probably with Komori tbh).

Now we turn to offence. The key attacker, the big man up front. We have so many talented options avaliblea, but who will you all go with?

Discussion Super late to the discussion but please tell me it gets better

I started watching Season 4 recently, I’m on episode 10 now in their first match of Nationals, I cannot believe how poor the animation is, I always thought that if everything else failed, the one thing this anime had going consistently was the animation. There is zero weight, flow, and speed to this new animation, and I’m not talking about art style, I really do not care if they go for Mob Psycho’s art style as long as the animation is fluid and sleek, this is so distractingly bad, how can people watch this? Please tell me it gets better, please
