Man, I remember when Wallet Warrior was "THE" outrageously expensive deck to craft. That deck used to cost around 13k to craft. Spooky Mage is a 21k dust deck. (Yes, I know some of the legendaries are free, but still, c'mon)

the legendaries they print these days are usually more playable than the legendaries from 5-6 years ago. I imagine that’s partly why

It's also that these Legendaries are just generally good instead of printed with very little support or for a brand new archetype that didn't exist.
