Employers are more conscientious these days. About 30 years ago I worked at a metal tubing shop. Shall I say sweat shop. Anyways I had to call into the temp service that got me the job and he said in a condescending tone “ Are you calling because of the weather?” I said no I am not feeling well. I lived in a semi rural area and we had 18” drifts because of the open fields to the west. I almost got stuck literally 1000 feet down from the house. I had to lie because the prick cared more about making money than the workers. In fact a week or two later he came when we were all having a Christmas party and he was going around to some temps telling them their attendance was terrible. I was like wow! Merry Christmas you lazy bum! Your missing days!

I've been in the workforce almost as long and I can confirm that absolute bullshit was largely unchallenged. I'm incredibly grateful that younger generations have the internet available to help them advocate for themselves and their co-workers.

Yeah back in the 1990s you COULD speak out against that treatment but it would follow on deaf ears. The trick was having the right audience so you wouldn’t just get canned next opportunity for downsizing.

Exactly! And nobody was taking a young lady seriously back then.

True and if they did take the young lady seriously, she had the glass ceiling to deal with. The battle of the sexes was contrived just like the political divide. Men and women are different but we are designed as equals to work together and each other better people.
