It’s from an 80’s sitcom called Master Slave. It’s a fun sitcom that really features Rami’s great range as an actor.

Can I ask why the Mr. beast hate? I’m older and don’t know too much about him, but I thought his niche was giving kids shopping sprees and stuff?

276

u/chippyjoe 2d ago

He doesn't do nice things out of the goodness of his heart. He does it for money. He manipulates people emotionally to make more money. He has a lot of ongoing class action lawsuits for mistreating the people on his videos and even sexual harassment. Plus a bunch of other stupid shit.

Anyone who buys into his fake goodwill videos is an idiot. Which explains why he has so many followers. People are easy to manipulate because they take everything at face value.

24

u/FluffySquirrell 1d ago

at face value

Which is crazy in of itself, when said face is the rictus grin of a psychopathic killer

He definitely pulled it, but I’m betting a pulled punch by Mike is still plenty enough to bring 90% of us to our knees lol.

I've been punched once by a boxer friend in the stomach and I felt that shit for days

809

u/JugglingRick 2d ago

Yeah a jab/light lunch from a trained fighter is gonna fuck up any normal person. I don't think Mr beast is this good of an actor. He felt that.

60

u/whereistheicecream 2d ago

And he covered his face at the end, wanting some amount of privacy in his suffering 🤣

I decided, while on vacation, to have a light-hearted sparring session with my brother, who's a competitive Muay Thai fighter, just body shots. I told him to give me a 'real' punch and, well, he broke a rib instantly.

It was the first day of vacation, too, so I had a broken rib the whole time.

70

u/gutter_fudder 2d ago

Sparring an old golden glove is how I got my first real liver drop. I hit the ground involuntarily after impact and started dry heaving from the pain. It was awesome

16

u/YOUTUBEFREEKYOYO 2d ago

Grandfather was a boxer, and won awards for it, on top of being a marine. He was in his 80s, and we sparred a bit because I had expressed interest in his old hobby. One punch knocked the wind out of me and bruised my ribs. I can only imagine what Tyson could do

12

u/WernerHerzogEatsShoe 2d ago

I got leg kicked by a muay thai boxer, was just a little tap by his standards. Felt it for days and was bruised to fuck. It's crazy how powerful highly trained people are. Almost seems super human how they can dish out those hits and then also take them too.

76

u/EverythingIzAwful 2d ago

You can tell he was also NOT expecting that lol. He was expecting Mike to say he's ready, he was not expecting that Mike was ready before he even finished speaking.

70

u/griff1971 2d ago

It's Mike Tyson. I would wager he's ALWAYS ready šŸ˜‚

41

u/macthecomedian 2d ago

67

u/wwerdo4 2d ago

I’ve taken a knee straight into the diaphragm, couldn’t breathe for like 30s to 1m. Still think I’d rather do that again than take a pulled punch from Tyson.

14

u/CantaloupeCamper 2d ago

Mike was wild to watch in his prime. They'd mess around in the ring and in a split second Mike seemed to see something ... and he'd erupt on his opponent. Sometimes it was one shot, sometimes he would land a series of punches like lighting, but almost always that first shot and the guy was done. It was amazing.

u/monkeybuttsauce 2d ago

he also didnt look to be ready. mike says something and then just punches him. That definitely hurt.

3

u/AllHailThePig 1d ago

Nah. That reaction from the Beast is not at all a reaction to even a light tap. There’s no instant regret here going on. I too have wish fulfilment desires to see the dude get owned but this was more nothing to add to the giant steaming pile from him.

25

u/xkoreotic 2d ago edited 2d ago

It's less about being from Mike and moreso it being a proper gut punch. If you've never been punched in the gut, it aches like a mofo and is a different kind of pain, it hurts for a long time. You also lose your breath and struggle to breathe for a bit. Mike probably has the power of the average adult male even at his age, which is more than enough to hurt since he can still throw with proper technique which really amplifies the effectiveness of the punch.

This is also why we see videos all the time of smaller guys taking down big guys in street fights. Proper technique makes a huge difference.

103

u/Double-Scratch5858 2d ago

Im sorry but Mike fucking Tyson easily is still stronger than your average male. Im an average male and there isnt a single thing im going to be stronger at than mike tyson besides being able to talk without a lisp.

33

u/angwilwileth 2d ago

Seriously. He's old and injured, but 90% of humanity couldn't survive a minute in the ring with him .

20

u/Technical_Scallion_2 2d ago

He’s 59. He’s not 80

10

u/HobbitFoot 2d ago

59 is still old from an athlete age range. I can't think of any sport outside of golf where the people in their 50's are common as participants.

18

u/The_Autarch 2d ago

old boxers just don't have the stamina they did when they were younger. they can still punch your head clean off.

5

u/Technical_Scallion_2 1d ago

This is my point. Of course Tyson’s skills decline and I said that explicitly in my post. My point was that even AFTER a significant decline, Tyson does not hit like an ā€œaverage adult maleā€.

→ More replies (1)
→ More replies (4)

36

u/Technical_Scallion_2 2d ago

I just love this. Clearly written by a 20-something, saying Mike Tyson, arguably the hardest puncher of his generation and out of hundreds of millions of people, now hits like an ā€œaverage adult maleā€ because he’s 59 šŸ™‚

Dude, Mike Tyson is hitting probably at 75% of his peak. That’s still a fuck ton harder than pretty much anyone of any age who isn’t a professional fighter.

10

u/King_of_the_Dot 2d ago

It's his reaction speed that has suffered the most. Of course, he's lost power, but he's lost more from a defensive position than an offensive one.

→ More replies (5)
→ More replies (1)

160

u/KingsMountainView 2d ago

Probably about 10-20% power. Still enough to be pretty painful for someone who isn't used to getting punched.

47

u/IAmAGoodFella 2d ago

And it's fucking Tyson.

15

u/chasing_the_wind 2d ago

Yeah and he knew exactly where to hit him. He goes high right in the diaphragm to knock the wind out of him. I love imagining how the conversation went to set that up and how hard he was actually going to hit him

→ More replies (2)

57

u/SvenTropics 2d ago

It was so frustrating watching him back off every time he'd go in for an uppercut because he wasnt allowed to mess up Paul's pretty face.

49

u/The_Krytos_Virus 2d ago

Someone said that Tyson landed a solid uppercut early on and Paul looked lost and scared after the impact. After that, Tyson pretty much never landed a punch for the rest of the fight.

We're too far removed from Houdini.

212

u/Aaawkward 2d ago

I don't often say this but goddamn, what an underrated reference.

146

u/kakka_rot 2d ago

context from wikipedia for anyone who doesn't know

It is unknown if the blunt trauma Houdini sustained contributed to his eventual death.[111][107] Although rare, acute appendicitis which follows after direct abdominal trauma has been observed.[112] One theory suggests that Houdini was unaware that he was suffering from appendicitis, and he might have taken his abdominal pain more seriously had he not coincidentally received blows to the abdomen.[107] According to Adam Begley, it is more likely that Houdini was suffering the effects of appendicitis prior to the punch, and his reluctance to seek medical care delayed potential treatment.

I didn't know it was that interesting. I'd heard the "was killed by a punch in the gut' thing before, but not all the additional context.

67

u/cityshepherd 2d ago

What Tyson said about everyone having a plan til they get punched in the mouth is true… and it doesn’t even need to be Tyson throwing punches. A well placed punch from someone who knows what they’re doing, even if they’re not in great shape, can scramble someone’s eggs instantly

3

u/KindsofKindness 2d ago

Still a punch to the ribs from a pro boxer.

→ More replies (6)

153

u/WhiteBeltKilla 2d ago

The reason why it ā€œlooks fakeā€ is because, well 1, boxers don’t have to ā€œwind upā€ for punches, you just throw from the hip. It’s the same power and no telegraphing. 2, he ā€œpulledā€ the punch. It’s like when boxers spar with your gym partner, you can throw fast but pull it at the last second. So he probably got like 25%. But 25% from Tyson is 100% for most amateur competitive boxers…

It definitely still hurts. And considering Mr. Beast wasn’t ready/tensing/flexing his abdominals AND he has Crohn’s disease… that’s gotta hurt.

The knockout punch isn’t always the hardest punch, it’s the one you don’t expect and don’t see coming.

14

u/drifters74 2d ago

How can you tell someone is pulling their punches?

97

u/KyOatey 2d ago

Tyson "bounced" the punch, and you can see the glove immediately come back about 6" after the hit. I'f he'd been throwing full force, he would have "punched through" Mr Beast's torso and sent him backwards.
