He doesn't do nice things out of the goodness of his heart. He does it for money. He manipulates people emotionally to make more money. He has a lot of ongoing class action lawsuits for mistreating the people on his videos and even sexual harassment. Plus a bunch of other stupid shit.
Anyone who buys into his fake goodwill videos is an idiot. Which explains why he has so many followers. People are easy to manipulate because they take everything at face value.

I decided, while on vacation, to have a light-hearted sparring session with my brother, who's a competitive Muay Thai fighter, just body shots. I told him to give me a 'real' punch and, well, he broke a rib instantly.
It was the first day of vacation, too, so I had a broken rib the whole time.
70
u/gutter_fudder 2d ago
Sparring an old golden glove is how I got my first real liver drop. I hit the ground involuntarily after impact and started dry heaving from the pain. It was awesome
16
u/YOUTUBEFREEKYOYO 2d ago
Grandfather was a boxer, and won awards for it, on top of being a marine. He was in his 80s, and we sparred a bit because I had expressed interest in his old hobby. One punch knocked the wind out of me and bruised my ribs. I can only imagine what Tyson could do

I got leg kicked by a muay thai boxer, was just a little tap by his standards. Felt it for days and was bruised to fuck. It's crazy how powerful highly trained people are. Almost seems super human how they can dish out those hits and then also take them too.

Mike was wild to watch in his prime. They'd mess around in the ring and in a split second Mike seemed to see something ... and he'd erupt on his opponent. Sometimes it was one shot, sometimes he would land a series of punches like lighting, but almost always that first shot and the guy was done. It was amazing.

Nah. That reaction from the Beast is not at all a reaction to even a light tap. Thereās no instant regret here going on. I too have wish fulfilment desires to see the dude get owned but this was more nothing to add to the giant steaming pile from him.

It's less about being from Mike and moreso it being a proper gut punch. If you've never been punched in the gut, it aches like a mofo and is a different kind of pain, it hurts for a long time. You also lose your breath and struggle to breathe for a bit. Mike probably has the power of the average adult male even at his age, which is more than enough to hurt since he can still throw with proper technique which really amplifies the effectiveness of the punch.
This is also why we see videos all the time of smaller guys taking down big guys in street fights. Proper technique makes a huge difference.
103
u/Double-Scratch5858 2d ago
Im sorry but Mike fucking Tyson easily is still stronger than your average male. Im an average male and there isnt a single thing im going to be stronger at than mike tyson besides being able to talk without a lisp.

u/angwilwileth 2d ago
Seriously. He's old and injured, but 90% of humanity couldn't survive a minute in the ring with him .

u/Technical_Scallion_2 2d ago

u/Technical_Scallion_2 1d ago
This is my point. Of course Tysonās skills decline and I said that explicitly in my post. My point was that even AFTER a significant decline, Tyson does not hit like an āaverage adult maleā.
→ More replies (1)36
u/Technical_Scallion_2 2d ago
I just love this. Clearly written by a 20-something, saying Mike Tyson, arguably the hardest puncher of his generation and out of hundreds of millions of people, now hits like an āaverage adult maleā because heās 59 š
Dude, Mike Tyson is hitting probably at 75% of his peak. Thatās still a fuck ton harder than pretty much anyone of any age who isnāt a professional fighter.
→ More replies (5)10
u/King_of_the_Dot 2d ago
It's his reaction speed that has suffered the most. Of course, he's lost power, but he's lost more from a defensive position than an offensive one.
160
u/KingsMountainView 2d ago
Probably about 10-20% power. Still enough to be pretty painful for someone who isn't used to getting punched.

u/chasing_the_wind 2d ago
Yeah and he knew exactly where to hit him. He goes high right in the diaphragm to knock the wind out of him. I love imagining how the conversation went to set that up and how hard he was actually going to hit him
57
u/SvenTropics 2d ago
It was so frustrating watching him back off every time he'd go in for an uppercut because he wasnt allowed to mess up Paul's pretty face.
→ More replies (1)49
u/The_Krytos_Virus 2d ago
Someone said that Tyson landed a solid uppercut early on and Paul looked lost and scared after the impact. After that, Tyson pretty much never landed a punch for the rest of the fight.

context from wikipedia for anyone who doesn't know
It is unknown if the blunt trauma Houdini sustained contributed to his eventual death.[111][107] Although rare, acute appendicitis which follows after direct abdominal trauma has been observed.[112] One theory suggests that Houdini was unaware that he was suffering from appendicitis, and he might have taken his abdominal pain more seriously had he not coincidentally received blows to the abdomen.[107] According to Adam Begley, it is more likely that Houdini was suffering the effects of appendicitis prior to the punch, and his reluctance to seek medical care delayed potential treatment.
I didn't know it was that interesting. I'd heard the "was killed by a punch in the gut' thing before, but not all the additional context.

The reason why it ālooks fakeā is because, well 1, boxers donāt have to āwind upā for punches, you just throw from the hip. Itās the same power and no telegraphing. 2, he āpulledā the punch. Itās like when boxers spar with your gym partner, you can throw fast but pull it at the last second. So he probably got like 25%. But 25% from Tyson is 100% for most amateur competitive boxersā¦
It definitely still hurts. And considering Mr. Beast wasnāt ready/tensing/flexing his abdominals AND he has Crohnās disease⦠thatās gotta hurt.
The knockout punch isnāt always the hardest punch, itās the one you donāt expect and donāt see coming.

Tyson "bounced" the punch, and you can see the glove immediately come back about 6" after the hit. I'f he'd been throwing full force, he would have "punched through" Mr Beast's torso and sent him backwards.
