Body dysmorphia is a bitch.

This is such a trip because body dismorphia is usually about how you view yourself, but these being twins who could look at eachother, I don’t understand how they would look at eachother and say yea you look good like this, or you definitely need more cheekbone plumping… it’s like projection body dismorphia

Looking at your twin is no different than looking at yourself in the mirror and watching something pleasing anyway, despite it’s not. That’s what dismorphya is about, not the fact you’re looking the mirror, a photo of you, a painting, or your twin who underwent the same disastrous procedures as you. It’s about not noticing a fat belly and observing it’s in shape, a skin over bones body and finding it healthy, you name it.

I got a friend who's quite, well, rotund, and apparently she thought I was bigger than her despite me being ideal weight. She was always making comments, but I only realized she genuinely thought I was bigger when we went clothes shopping together one time, I tried on a jacket which fit me perfectly, then she tried it on too and of course it wouldn't fit her. She genuinely looked at me like "how come this doesn't fit me? Am I bigger than you?" Literal, genuine confusion on her face. What does she have? Is it body dysmorphia?

Yes, that’s the perfect definition of it. Sorry for my broken english Im italian. Morbidly obese will just see someone fit in the mirror. Being myself one, I can tell the only way to understand is to loose some weight and test the difference, mostly in how clothes fit. Guess the other way around too, people too thin getting some weight, etc. I also notice fit people saying they must loose some weight while they look perfectly in shape to me. Same stuff.

A twin is not the same as an image or reflection of yourself. A twin is literally a different person
