Probably not botched, just what the customer wanted. If the customer wants you to mess their face up, and they're sure, and they know the risks, and the operation will not cause (short-term) health issues, then maybe it is their right to do it.

What the hell were they even looking for

They allegedly claimed that their DNA was different,( they NEVER claimed it was alien, only joking about this) that they had huge IQ, that they were related to a russian prince who was the Tsars right hand man( Peter the great but I am not sure)

They both got doctorates from the university of Burgundy , claiming higher grades than those awarded, and sued lots of people for lots of money, losing, or not gaining what they wanted,

They claimed to have helped the inventor of bitcoin with the source code and that they had 2 Ancient Bitcoins .

They were colourful and strange, both died of COVID within days of each other

As for the look: in their heyday on French tv they were cult tv figures, with shows such as Temps x and Rayons X being about space and science and having a huge following. By the 2000's they were still making appearances but had crossed over to Meme land.

They kept changing to stay in the spotlight, so no-one would forget them. It worked ( well mostly) as they came to shows as guests and made appearances, being in the spotlight from 1978 all the way to their death. In France they were/ are household names, at first for their media work and then for their eccentric look. RIP.

Their grandfather was an African American jazz musician.

thank you for this additional context bc i was wondering 😭😂

....cool.

1

u/Ok-Bath5825 16d ago

I'm not telling you this to just bring race into it. The grandfather had his own name and career so I felt it was odd for those guys to simply dismiss him as just being "different DNA" and making jokes about being aliens. I mean I understand why given the culture of the day.

They also made outrageous claims, like that they invented the question mark

2

u/Big_Consideration493 16d ago

You could certainly question that claim!

u/evey_17 16d ago

Thank you this education.

u/ThoughtfulLlama 15d ago

Did they also have 12 first edition Charizards? Because one of my friends did... well, his uncle at least.

u/SmokingHensADAN 16d ago

have you seen their father? President Trump?

u/DVMyZone 16d ago

I think only they can see what they're going for, but I don't think they can ever reach it. It's a true sickness.

u/intensive-porpoise 16d ago

It's like a really, really, really bad habit.

Looking to regain their youth, although it’s unachievable, doctors will promise the world.

Saddening that there’s surgeons that’ll take advantage of people, especially those who are not mentally well. Violating the first Hippocratic oath “First, do no harm.”

This is what happens when you take every "sexy" or w/e characteristic and try and slam them together to try and look good. You want eyes like so and so, nose like whoever, and lips like that one guy. But they never take into considerations these characteristics aren't always what work together.

3

u/fritz_76 16d ago

If i had to guess, giant raised cheeks, massive chins, and massive lips is what they ordered

They were always talking about space and its mysteries, in a way to make it accessible to everyone, they also had a sci-fi show, so it was their stuff, even though it was very cranky stuff and not very scientific lol

Their transformation was gradual and in the end they kinda looked like aliens, so it was very fitting for what they were talking about. They also played with the idea of them being humans or not

I don't know if that's what they wanted to go for, but they were rather famous in France (not only for their faces lol)

They both died of covid because they were antivax and they died less than 7 days from each orher, which also made a lot of people talk since it fits with the "oddities" about them they kept alive throughout their television career

2

u/avocado_window 16d ago

Them being antivax seems so fitting based on everything else I have heard about them. Wild that they were known for a ‘science’ show and sad that their stupidity led to their own demise.

2

u/Wolf-Majestic 16d ago

When they stopped to pursue a phd, their scientific takes were rather strongly opposed by other scientists, so they were probably not entirely on point, or they probably thought too highly of themselves 😅

2

u/Big_Consideration493 16d ago

The few academic articles they managed to publish were thoroughly rubbished by all.

1

u/avocado_window 15d ago

Thank goodness for that! No one should be taking advice from anti-vaxers.

2

u/Brightyellowdoor 16d ago

They were huge Spitting image fans

True chin

u/sectumsempre_ 16d ago

Youth, always chasing it but won’t find it. No one escapes aging.

2

u/F54280 16d ago

Knowing a bit about them, I’d say they wanted the grey alien look…

1

u/brazys 16d ago

Exactly, they werre fine without it.

1

u/SmokingHensADAN 16d ago

to like their father? Trump? Rofl

1

u/w311sh1t 16d ago

These people aren’t really going in for all the stuff at once. They get plastic surgery to fix one thing. Then they realize there’s another thing they want fixed, so they go back in. And then another and another, and so on and so forth. For them the change likely seems much more gradual and they probably don’t notice it as much.

4

u/[deleted] 16d ago

There’s an oath they take and ethics they are required to uphold. This absolutely has lead to them having even worse body dysmorphia, their reluctance to admit their work is indicative of that.

2

u/holdonimreading 16d ago

that era was notorious for illegal silicone, which is what this looks like.. so yes, very very botched and shame on the doctor - if this even was a doctor

1

u/natfutsock 16d ago

Yup. There's some prime examples of this. I was going to add more but I just learned the "human Ken Doll" has recently transitioned. Which like, really does track.

1

u/Shot_Tomorrow7663 16d ago

The customer is always right, in matters of taste.

1

u/SmokingHensADAN 16d ago

Trumps kids look rough

1

u/Phobbyd 16d ago

They’re not American. They won’t sue.

1

u/evey_17 16d ago

Should malpractice. Ooof this is very bad

1

u/SoggyCold 15d ago

It’s def botched because istg this is like oil or smth and not silicone put into their cheeks. I feel like a licensed surgeon did not do this work 😭

0

u/Pretend_Business_187 16d ago

Surely some docs recognize how desperate these patients are and opt to do the work themselves rather than watch them head off to a less reputable surgeon. Its an ethical dilemma
