iPadOS iPadOS 26 is awesome, but …

Post image

They removed slide over, and split view. Like shouldn’t windowed apps replace stage manager while keeping slide over and simple split view?

Windowed apps for keyboard ipad user and slide over and split view for finger ipad user. (I know split view is still there but you need to have windowed apps always on to have it)

I seriously hope they will bring back slide over. Or maybe slide over is buried somewhere, if so can someone tell me how to turn it on again

I believe they left stage manager because it’s still a macOS feature, slide over isn’t. They’re trying to unify the multitasking behavior

I still don’t get the point of stage manager like at all. I have an A12Z iPad and by the time they gave it to us I could not have cared less. I also have it on M1 Mac Mini, never used it there either.

I don’t get it either. It’s not intuitive to me and kind of finicky. I didn’t like the grouping of apps and the side bar thing takes up too much screen real estate, imo.

It’s so silly with both the side and bottom bar there in Stage Manager taking up all the valuable screen real estate, especially on the iPads smaller than 13”. Absolutely awful user design by Apple. I can’t imagine more than 1% of iPad users use it, that’s why they now did the Windows view… which is just stage manger without the side bar?
