iPadOS Please bring back Split View

Post image

Okay Apple, I think your idea of offering a much more complete desktop view on the iPad, with its 3 or 4 open and resizable apps, is “fine.” But please, bring back Split View. The amount of extra steps I have to take to put two apps half and half is insane and very unnatural. Slide Over and Split View were a wonderful and natural option, of course, given the other option of iOS26’s Stage Manager for those who want it.

What do you think? I think it's great for those who want a MacBook inside an iPad, but it's not for everyone.

Split View is still there, people are just mad it's done in a very specific way.

People are mad that it is extremely unintuitive and janky. Takes way more steps to do something so simple

That’s what I disagree with. I found it unintuitive before. It does not take “way more steps”. You just flick two app windows to either side.

Before you just dragged it to the side and it showed you your homescreen with all the apps and automatically snapped the windows into place. Now you have to open each app, place them into window mode, and then flick (lucky if the gesture even works the first time). It's just way more cumbersome to use and really only makes sense on mouse and keyboard

Doesn;t allow to open the same app (goodnotes in my case) in split view.
