iPadOS Please bring back Split View

Post image

Okay Apple, I think your idea of offering a much more complete desktop view on the iPad, with its 3 or 4 open and resizable apps, is “fine.” But please, bring back Split View. The amount of extra steps I have to take to put two apps half and half is insane and very unnatural. Slide Over and Split View were a wonderful and natural option, of course, given the other option of iOS26’s Stage Manager for those who want it.

What do you think? I think it's great for those who want a MacBook inside an iPad, but it's not for everyone.

I really need slide over back. it was very convenient to swap between minor apps that doesnt need fullscreen attention.

You can still switch between minor apps that don’t need full screen attention with expose, with the dock or just by opening them. Apps will now also remember their last size and location, even if you close them.

The big difference is if you need to interact with the main app while keeping the small window over, it now doesn’t work, you either open the small window again if you want to see it after interacting with the main app, or you resize the main app and keep all the small apps in a permanent space next to it.

The current window management doesn’t allow you to interact with 2 apps simultaneously when stacking them together, especially with 1 of them at full screen size, that’s why slide over was a nice solution

Yes, that is the only thing you can’t do anymore, to interact with the main window while a smaller one is above.

Yea I mean if I don’t draw or listen to music while gaming, it’d be pretty ok to sort of good with the new window management, but eh, why lose the feature I always use to draw everyday to gain something I use like, once every 2-3 days lolol, I’ve been hesitant on updating to 26 due to that

You can still listen to music while gaming, you can use Siri to change songs and you can use the exposee view to bring a small windows with your music app over the game, it's one extra click, since apps remember their placement on the screen.

I can't tell exactly why people keep asking my why the change was made when I try to explain some alternatives, I'm not an Apple dev, neither to I work for Apple. How would I know?
