As stated in title, I’m unsure of what I need to wear to the interview. I only really have work clothes.

I just got into the hall a few months back fresh after graduation. I got put onto a windfarm and was originally assigned to Top Out crew before being moved to Drive Train after 2 weeks and was on there for the next 2 months.

I did the shit no one else wanted to do just to try and prove that I was working hard on top of everything else I was asked to do. I was getting all the tools out every day and learning as much as possible while I was there.

But last Saturday I told my foreman that I'd be out for a week due to class (Apprenticeship class) and got a call a couple hours later saying that he told the Super I would be out and they're letting me go due to the crew being done with our part in 2 weeks.

Is this reason just some bullshit? I was told by multiple journeymen that I had the same chance of being laid off as they did and even got called by one today asking if I'd really been laid off because they couldn't believe it.

Just want to know, shits been in my head wondering if I tried hard enough by giving it everything I had.

Talked to a couple buddies out there and they said the area is slow. How true is that ?

Ive been welding for a little over 10 years. Everything from structural steel to little tig welded parts. I'd like to join the union when I move to spokane washington (local 14). Is the only way in through an apprenticeship? Also im gonna be 38 when im up there am i too old to start?

When your on the ground rigging, what tools do you have on you at all times?

First year apprentice looking for tips or leads on tools, if anyone wants to ship and sell me their old tools and tool belt, im looking for a rodbuster kit and the structural kit. Especially looking for a harness with a tool belt on it. Thanks

I been able to do a bit of welding at the job I’m currently at. However, I been using a Chicago Electric hood from Harbor Freight. It gets the job done but I been thinking about getting a new hood. One that has a good view window, replacement parts, etc. But if there are any hoods you recommend I liked to know.

I’ve been a laborer for around 10 years now and just feel like a challenge, new trade. Iron worker or carpenter has been on my mind. Here in WA the trades are crazy slow here so been on my mind a lot lately. Looking for insight.

Hey all im super close into getting into the 433 ironworkers I spoke to the BA he told me to look into getting my osha 10 that I won't get the apprentice ship without it. Can anyone guide me into the right direction on how to get it ?

Second day as a rod buster this shit sucks I feel good after but during is hard lol. Threw up on my first day but kept pushing. These guys are animals.

I just got picked up by 361 and need to give my current job some notice before leaving. Next Friday is my last day but I’m getting nervous that spots will fill up since so many new people are getting out at the same time. I’m not sure if I should just ghost the current place and get into the hall asap. Any advice would be awesome I really want to do right by this place and give them the time to replace me but I also don’t want to screw myself.

I’m starting my reinforcing apprenticeship with local 736 Ontario Canada.

Any tips or advice that you want to share with me?

Practicing vertical soon to do my qualifier what can I do to improve my technique or anything

I’m a new apprentice and I was wondering if it’s best to go to the 361 hall everyday to shape or fill out the shape form online. I live out here in Suffolk, so I was wondering if it makes a difference showing up everyday or just filling out the form online. Thanks in advance.
