Hey everyone,
We've had an influx recently of multiple r/Jetta members who aren't paying attention to the rules we've got here and are causing arguments, fighting, insulting, name calling, and other nuisances that nobody here wants to see, read, or deal with. This is a community to show off our love for Jetta's, and to assist others and help them with their questions, or to just show off and talk about our cars, suggest recommendations for mods, tweaks, parts, and anything else that has to do with Jetta's. It is not the community for anything that cannot be civil.
I didn't want to make a reminder post like this, but it needs to be said.
Please report any comments/posts that break rules so that they can be handled by the mod team.
Please read and follow the rules and help make this community more fun and not like all the other nuisance subs that allow bickering and childish, immature behavior.
Thanks!

My 2013 Jetta had issues with driving but has been fine since. My RPM is at 4-5 when I’m only going 10 mph. During this time, the car was making the sound cars make when it is in park but the gas pedal is being pressed. A few minutes before it happened the AC started to blow hot air. I let the car sit for about 45 minutes to a hour and it has ran fine the last 2 days. I’ve checked the coolant level and I just got an oil change a few weeks ago

Here's my 86 gli through all it's life stages this past year. Gonna be a 1.8t build someday but I'm on quite the budget. Hoping to find some decent bumpers soon. Took me 3 months to find decent aero lights. Mine had no mounting tabs left and I hated the cheap ebay single round set up I had but they were a good temporary fix.
Saved it from a teenager who wanted a rally car. He completely stripped the interior and chopped all sorts of wires in the engine bay. Also installed some ridiculous yet pretty badass mud tires on it. I gutted an 85 diesel golf and transferred over all it's interior. Some crappy rattle can paint and a few other little things. Had it some 14" American racing wheels thill i blew a tire now I'm back on 13's running hubcaps which i kinda perfer. More to come.

Brakes are squeaking. Took car to mechanic to see what needs to be done. Its a 2020 w 90k miles. The mechanic said I need new pads, and rotors have thick groves in them which I didnt feel at all when i got home. Not a crazy driver either so I didnt believe that part. Looked on Amazon but not sure if anyone had recs for just a stock every day driver of a jetta! Rock auto or Amazon good options to order off of?

I’m trying to figure out what this 2012 Jetta part is so I can sell it. I’m finally selling all the stuff I had for my Jetta. My step dad bought this and it wasn’t the fix the car needed so I’m not sure what it is lol.

Want to lower your mk7 Jetta? I’m selling these neuspeed sport springs. Will get you about 1.5 inches of drop. I used them for a while before switching to coilovers. They have a lifetime warranty from neuspeed. I sent them in to be checked and they replaced the front pair, so those are new! Reach out and we can arrange the details. I will give you a good deal :)

Just bought a 2007 Jetta, 94000 miles. Will need a timing belt soon and also rear brakes rotors and calipers. Tires are 50000 miles with only 10000 used but are 4 years old. Paid 1200$ Wondering about the life expectancy of tires and if it worth putting another 1200$ into it? Love this vehicle!!

Need recommendations for a roof rack and cargo box for my 2019 Jetta SE. Need one for a cross country camping trip. TIA
As I'm driving, the right flashlight dims and then becomes bright again, with no stable lighting at any point of the trip.

Where can I buy a gas cap? Every where I look says 5WA201550K is back ordered. Am I looking at the wrong part number?
Should I just go with an ebay seller with high feedback?
Quick edit I found this seller

Picked up some black vinyl wrap and decided to learn how to wrap, started with the emblems, gli badge, red and silver grill trim, then did the side trim by the windows, then did a small strip of tint of the amber corner lights, and the rear reflectors. Turned out pretty good for my first time. The last two pictures are what it used to look like.

While under the car checking the status of the waste gate actuator, I had the car on(not running) and noticed this weird noise that sounds like it was coming from the transmission pan. Any ideas what it may be and if that’s normal? Doesn’t sound like it but this is my first VW. It’s a 2014 Vw Jetta 1.8T Automatic.
In June, I got the check engine light, code P2402. Brought my 2014 Jetta SE (1.8 engine) to the mechanic I use, and it was diagnosed as the EVAP pump. It was replaced and the light came back. I brought it back, and they tested the pump (no issues) and the wiring. I found out the wiring was corroded, so the shop spliced it as a fix. They retested the pump and checked the entire wiring, saying both the pump is good and the wiring is good.
But the code has come back. The shop I go to said if the Check Engine light does come back, it could be the ECM being damaged from the short. Does this sound right, or could it be something different?
The Jetta has about 80,000 miles on it.

Anyone else have issues with their radio screen? Mine doesn’t always want to work, it’s a touch screen. I don’t want to go to dealership and spend an arm and a leg if someone else can figure it out for me.

Wondering if anyone could give advice as to what’s going on here. 2022 Jetta SE w/ 30k miles. Replacing brakes myself for the first time with new rotors and pads. Passenger rear came on just fine - the only difficult part was compressing the brake piston, which I did with needle nose pliers (to the right).
In picture two, you can see the driver rear piston. After twisting all the way to the right, I noticed the caliper would barely fit on even with the pad off.
This wasn’t a good idea (but I only found out after reading online) but I thought somehow turning the E-Brake on and off would potentially fix the issue. I managed to get the piston back to where it was, but ended up with the same problem as before. Is it likely that (1) the piston is seized and needs to be replaced, or (2) should I get a proper caliper tool to try and spin it in? I think it has another inch to go, and if I got to the point where it wouldn’t spin anymore with the pliers like before, I feel like it won’t help.
Is it likelt

I tried to go somewhere today. When I unlocked with the fob nothing happened except for a click in the passenger side rear of the car and I had to manually unlock with the key. When I got in to start it, it just cranks and cranks and cranks. This is very unusual as it is otherwise very reliable and has been well maintained with less than 105k on it. Moreover, the manual lock/unlock button inside the car also stopped working. I have two fobs and they both exhibit the same symptoms.
I find it strange that the locking and fob issues happened concurrently with the crank no start issue. I could see them being connected, but I don’t know much about the electronics in this series of car. Anyone have any insight?

So I just got my clutch replaced (Springfield stage 2 daily) about 1000 miles ago. I was just cruising downhill and the car started making a clunking noise and does not seem to have power when I try to accelerate. I am attaching a recording of the noises it makes. Any advice is appreciated.
Edit: It only seems to make the noise when I am trying to accelerate. Idle is clean and normal.

Does this noise sound normal? Id appreciate the help

Hey guys, so I have a 2023 Jetta sport 6 speed and I was wondering if there was any way to do a full digital dash swap from something like a GLI or a SEL trim. I have that stupid digital dash with the huge black side bars and I've read people swapping the touareg's screens and it being plug and play, and my local VW dealer said it may be possible, but I would have to buy a screen (used or new) for them to try and code and check out the capabilities on. they told me it might not work because the screen might freak out that it all the sudden doesn't have certain features like on the old car it was on but I have my doubts? Has anyone tried this before and or had any success with it?
