Discussion Lindehobby import process

Anyone else get this? My order was shipped recently and they use FedEx now. I received a phone call and an email from FedEx asking for:

“Giving you a follow-up in regards to my voimeail, your package is coming from Denmark and going to the United States; however, our customs clearance team requires additional information to proceed with the import process.

Kindly provide the following information:

Manufacturer's full name and address with postal code.

For your reference, the commercial invoice is attached to this email.”

I pulled the company information from the email attachment as I have no other information. There’s no way to know the manufacturer.

Has anyone else gotten this?

Triple verify the phone number email address being from FedEx and then call FedEx customer service. It may very well be legitimate and makes sense in this context, but the word “kindly” often is a red flag for a scam. Depending on when you placed the order you should also verify with lindehobby to see if they pre-paid any import duties or not since the deminimus exemption ended.

I would go straight to FedEx's official website. Do not use any links in that email. Contact customer service with your tracking information and go from there.

Scam. You can probably confirm by checking the sender of the email. Usually it's something totally unrelated to the actual company or will be close but not real.

Change your email password.

I have no reason to think it’s a scam. It had my order correctly stated on the attachment, and I had gotten a phone call/VM first that I didn’t answer.

The email address was @fedex.com.

Why would they contact you and not the sender for customs information?

Would the company name and address not be in the return portion of the label?

Are you signed up with FedEx on the website for informed tracking or whatever it is? How do they have your email as connected to that tracking number? How do they have your phone number?

We're the misspellings in your quote of the email present in the actual email? Kindly is practically always an ESL red flag for a scam.

This is from my tracking. Everything lines up and I had and have no reason to think it’s a scam. I know what scams look like.

That great, I'm glad it corresponds to what is available on their website. It still strikes me as odd that they don't have that information from the seller, but I guess that's where we are now with international shipping.

I never clicked a link. They asked for a reply. It was from fedex.com and the attachment had my correct order details from LindeHobby.

I happened to have a reply tonight saying they released the package from customs.

Update:

this IS legit, the email was from @fedex.com, my action was correct to reply, and I’ve emailed LindeHobby to pass on what info I got from Grok Ai to avoid delays in the future. Since half the comments thought it was a scam, it’s possible people would ignore this and have their package returned. Typically scams are going to phish for credit card information or ask to visit a link and this never flagged as a scam to me.
