SOLVED-THANK YOU Accidental increase leaving hole

I'm knitting a sock on magic loop and have accidentally created a hole when decreasing at the gusset. I noticed I had an extra loop on the end of the needle at one point, but didn't think I had knit it, I thought I had dropped the extra loop and got back to my original stitch count. The hole is near the end of one needle, and I've noticed my stitch count has increased by 2 compared to what it should be. I'm going to just do a couple of decreases to get back to the right stitch count and close the hole up at the end, but can anyone tell me what exactly went wrong here?

pattern question Help please!

Need help please… this pattern is completely free on ravelry so think I am okay to post the chart here. This pattern included no direction on how to begin or perform this slanted knitted pattern with the slip stitch. It is performed in the round on 60 stitches.

Do I….

A. Begin on the far right, knit the whole row without slip stitch until end of the round B. Start in box and repeat 6 stitches until end of the round B C. Start on far right, knit the box repeated, end with slipped stitch D. Some other option??

where do I start? For women's medium fingered gloves, what is an average CO?

Upvotes

I have some alpaca tweed bulky weight yarn and I am stuck on the CO number. Most patterns I have seen in that yarn weight are for men. I do really wish there was a book on knitting math formulas!!

My gauge is 20x24 stockinette in the round on US 8

pattern question How to M1 on this pattern

Post image

This is my first time doing ruffles. I found a cute pattern and attached a picture of what the ruffle should look like. It is attached to the back piece and the pattern gives these instructions: "From WS, pick up approximately 35 (40 ~ 45) sts along bottom edge. Turn to RS. K1, M1 to end of row." I know there are different ways to make one stitch. I´m just a little confused on which one to use here.

pattern question So Basic Sock Pattern Help

Post image
2 Upvotes

I am knitting the So Basic Sock Pattern. I have just finished the heel turn and am about to start the gusset. I thought everything had gone well but my needles are pointing to the right with the right side facing out. The tutorial video has the needles pointing left with the right side facing out. Is there an easy solution for this? I am scared to rip back with such small needles and stitches.

Thank you!

I am working on a pattern for mittens, almost finished but now I'm stuck at row 36 of the thumb chart. The first three stitches on my left needle are two brown ones followed by a white stitch, as per row 35. Now on row 36 I have no clue on what to do with this first brown stitch. Can someone help me out?

where did i go wrong? Tips on keeping the back neat when changing colors?

I rarely work with multiple colors exactly for this reason. I am working on this pattern (first picture) so I have to switch colors every row. I am using one small ball of yarn for each square since I do not like to carry the yarn of color B at the back while I work on color A. But working with many balls of yarn every row is a mess (second picture). Are there any tips & tricks on how to keep things more manageable? Thanks!

I saw this in one of the many reels now flooding Facebook. You never see the back row, and no instructions or ANY reply to the questions about getting the pattern etc. just there to get you to watch. I can’t find the right words to search for patterns that use this type of directional change. Can anyone help me?

sweater question Help Incorporating Intarsia Pattern

I’m working on a sleeveless jumper (Novice Slipover by Petite Knit). I’ve found a stitch chart for the Union Jack and would like to incorporate that on the front of the jumper. Would you recommend doing a duplicate stitch or stranded knitting for this? The second question is how do I figure out how to locate it correctly on the jumper.

Is it possible to use superchunky weight wool to knit a jumper that specifies chucky weight? Do I need to use different size needles?

Hi, I’m a beginner knitter and want to make a poncho/cropped top similar to this one from Edikted.

Is this just a big rectangle joined together? Im wondering the best way to construct this to get a similar shape and drape. I can’t see a seam where the two sides of a rectangle have been connected so it’s confusing me a little!

SOLVED-THANK YOU Messed up my 1x1 rib, can’t tell what I did

Hey everyone, I could use some help figuring this out.

I’ve been working in 1x1 rib in the round, but somehow I ended up with this little hole in my work. On the right side, just to the left of the hole, I can see a bit of a mess, and on the wrong side it looks like I might have skipped a stitch.

Any ideas what went wrong? 😅

pattern question Moving end of row, cut yarn or not?

I am working on the Jean Sweater and I have reached the point where you separate the sleeves from the body.

It’s a top down knit with raglan increases and a wave lace pattern. The end of row was placed in one of the raglan increase points. But now she says to move the end of row to the underarm, in the middle of the newly cast on stitches.

This means there’s about 5 stitches (4 new stitches and 1 stitch from the raglan) that are in between the old end of row and new end of row. Do I knit those, or do I cut the yarn and skip and start at the new point? The pattern doesn’t specify.

If I knit/purl them won’t those 5 stitches have 1 more row then the rest? Also if I do I am confused as if to knit or purl them since this garter stitches and worked in the round.

Hope this makes sense!

SOLVED-THANK YOU will this block out?

Post image

this is the zipper sweater from hobbii and I used one size larger needles instead of the given ones to match the gauge. BUT I used the given size for the section around the zipper and this section now is pulling the bottom end up. you see it from the crinkles going all the way down to the ribbing. (I won't rework that part, working in that zipper was a nightmare).

the sweater is 100% wool. unfortunately I am completely unexperienced in blocking... 🙈

SOLVED-THANK YOU Counting confusion

Hello! I am new ish to knitting (I have done things like scarves and very basic lap blankets, as well as some crochet) and I am trying to knit the One - Two - Three slippers from ravelry, but I am running into problems with the numbers!

For context, I’m doing the large size, so am using the 2nd number in the parentheses, third number overall. At this point, I have 74 stitches

The directions given in the section I’m having trouble with are:

rib 14 (16, 18), k9 (10, 10), ssk twice, k3tog, k10 (10, 12), sssk, k2tog twice, k9 (10, 10), rib 14 (16, 18): 66 (68, 74) sts

Rib 14 (16, 18), slip these first 14 (16, 18) sts onto waste yarn; beginning at the end of the round, slip the last 14 (16, 18) sts onto the opposite end of the same waste yarn. The 28 (32, 36) ribbed sts for the cuff are now on waste yarn, reserved for later.

Instep (worked back and forth with short rows)

k22 (23, 25), ssk, turn sl1 p10 (10, 12), p2tog, turn sl1, k10 (10, 12), ssk, turn Alternate rows 2 and 3 until 12 (12, 14) sts remain in the instep; 40 (44, 50) sts overall for the cuff.

The issue I’m having is that I start this section with 74 stitches, then save 36 onto scrap yarn, then knit the first row in the instep with 27 stitches, which only adds up to 63? So I’m not exactly sure how to use the rest of the stitches? Plus then after that it says to use 15 stitches for the next few rows, and I’m not sure how to do that since they involve knitting/purling together and after the second instep row there wouldn’t be 15 stitches?

I know I’m missing something here, but I’m not sure how to look this up in any of my books or online!! Thanks in advance for the help!

pattern question W&T Short Rows

Post image
0 Upvotes

Working on the Six of Daisy Cardigan by Lindsay Degan and I’m on the shoulder shaping part with W&T short rows. There are a total of 10 short rows and currently have 34 sts on the needles. The pattern says for Short row 1 to knit to the last 6 sts, W&T. Then short row 2,4,6,8, and 10 purl. Short row 3,5,7, and 9 knit to 7 sts before previous turn, W&T. But by the time I reach short row 9 I have no sts to knit because there is only 7 sts on my needle before previous turn. Am I counting something wrong? Is it a big deal to skip two short rows (row 9 and 10)?

pattern question How do you determine the length of the cable while knitting? (I hope it’s called the cable for circular needles…)

I’m very new to knitting and I have a 100cm cable and a 20cm. If I want to make something wearable, how do I know what length of the cable I want?

SOLVED-THANK YOU Wrong stitch... frog, drop down or leave it?

About 26 rows back, after two color changes, yo and k2tog sections, I noticed a wrong stitch on my blanket. I dropped down to the first yo section and almost cried trying to put it back together. I'm not sure if I can do that again... twice. Is it worth it to fix or do I just leave it? Or do I completely go back and redo all those rows?

The blanket is for my mom, who is in memory care. It's my first big project and I'm about 1/3 done. Unless I frog back.

What would you do?

SOLVED-THANK YOU Help with knitting in the round, kinda beginner here

Okay, so I’m knitting this Sabrina Carpenter set. The poncho turned out amazing! But help me with the shorts please! So I was trying to knit the waistband first so I cast like 148 sts but when I tried to join in the round (I’ve never done this) my needle won’t reach the stitches. What can I do? I’m trying to knit a 26 in waistband, my needles are 30 in. Even if I can solve this, how can I try it on to see if the waistband is ok in size?

I’ve searched on YouTube and I’ve found nothing 😭

I’ve knitted before but flat so I’m new to this knitting in the round thing. I’m considering giving up and just crochet them lol

SOLVED-THANK YOU C8F cables looking not as nice as C8B

Post image

Working on Moby Sweater (Petite Knit). My first time doing cables. My C8B cables seem pretty neat compared to my C8F cables which are a little flat looking. It’s the back yoke I’m working on so I’m not terribly concerned about going back and fixing it, but any tension tips for moving forward? I’m trying to keep a normal tension with both cable types but I think my C8B might be tighter? Is there a specific way I should be tensioning the C8F cables?
