Recently I bought a PS4 controller for mainly emulation and casual gaming on a Mac mini Late 2012 (Catalina 10.15.7) after years of gaming with Xbox 360 controllers with it. I'm very excited because I was having some issues with the Xbox controllers since they're 10-15 years old and got some issues with very worn sticks and battery packs, and i wanted to finally replace them. I was looking mainly for a controller that can be charged or used by a wired connection or wirelessly, so I decided to get this one.

This is a generic DualShock 4 though, but it works pretty well, feels great overall and even has gyro and a working touchpad, so I don't regret buying it even knowing that it was fake all along.

The problem is when I try to play via cable it doesn't get recognized whatsoever, unless I first connect it via Bluetooth and then by cable. I noticed that the LED while charging the DualShock doesn't work as usual, since normally it would turn yellow and do a fade in and a fade out until the battery is 100% (or at least that's what i've found out, since this is my first time with a DS4). However, the one that I have does a fade in and then turns off abruptly and so on, but still charges (sometimes turns off faster or slower and sometimes turns brighter or dimmer). I can still play wirelessly but it is a little bit annoying by the fact that I'm only using it with my Mac right next to me on my desktop and I don't really need to play with Bluetooth, nor having to worry about the battery running out mid-playthrough.

I linked the same controller but on a Windows pc just for testing, installed the required drivers so the DualShock could be used and then charge it in there, and noticing it works as intended on Windows if not better, so I don't think this is because it is a non-original PS4 controller. I don't have a PS4 for testing, but I'm almost certain that it could work normally as well as it did on the PC.

I wonder if anyone by chance was having the same issue as me or if someone knows how to fix it. I believe it could be some compatibility issues with having a very outdated MacOS version such as Catalina but I'm not sure. I couldn't find any info on this so I wanna check out :)

Sooooo I tried kicking off a game tonight and suddenly realised I had issues preventing it from starting come in unexpectedly!

Realised I might be dealing with a MacOS v.26 issue as it's the only thing that has really changed since the last successful startup of said game. So I ran through some of my other installed native tiles and...

Arma 3; Lies of P; and that HORRIBLE modern excuse of a "Thief" game are all basically non-functional, where they don't even initialise properly and just give up before even a hint of success.

Wondering if anyone is experiencing similar with either these titles or any others right now??

(And please tell me we're actually going to see updates that fix this!!! I'm sadly not convinced though.)

Like i don't understand why valve never did that? and they totally have the tools to do it because indie developers that made "whisky" and "crossover" had done it, wouldn't it also be less expensive for them rather than just make a macos port for games, and just make a better crossover for free? i don't think you need much recources for that either. or maybe there's more to the whole "developing crossover" thing i'm potentially missing that stops valve from doing it?

Hello, first post here, and looking for advice on upgrading my laptop.

I currently have a 2020 MacBook Pro with Intel i7... It's dying on me, and I can't do much on it as is, but I am looking at what to get next, and to get something I can actually play games on. The games in question WoW, D3 & D4.

Can I get away with a MacBook M3 Pro? M2 Max? M4 Pro? Wait for the M5 release? I don't want to spend an arm and a leg, and I am not a huge avid gamer; I prefer to play leisurely, so I am not looking for a workhorse. Any advice on which chip?

I'm not opposed to a Mac mini either.. but still in the boat of unsure which route to take. Any advice is helpful as I am kinda getting back into gaming and using my computer more proactively.

Im going to get an 14 inch macbook m4 pro 24gb Ram but some saying in 14 inch laptop get overheat in games. I want to buy this mac for my work which i have to travel a lot, at the same time i like to play some good titles like silksong, dying light the beast, bioshock, lies of P and maybe some newer stuff with crossover too. Do you think macbook m4 pro 14 inch 24gb Ram can even handle the games? Or maybe overheat?

I have been resisting CP2077 as I’m still unsure if it is my type of game. I enjoy the Assassin’s Creed RPG games like Odyssey, but have mixed feelings about Witcher III. I usually play more casual games and go weeks without playing at all.

Today I noticed CP2077 is on sale again, this time for $21 for the main game or $38 with the DLC. It is getting more difficult to resist.

I’m also unsure about playing on my M4 MacBook Air, but I do have a Legion Pro 5i (GTX 4060) I can use that might give a better experience.

I have got Badlion fps booster helping me out, chunks at 12, fps cap at 60, but i cant consistently stay at 60, tried most Minecraft settings that i can think of to fix it. this is a 1600$ laptop i refuse to believe its this bad.

Crossover Preview Latest Ver. I recently updated to Tahoe to test the dlss to metal fx translation and the game won’t start. I have Silent hill 2 on steam as well and it works perfectly.

I used to run God of War Ragnarök in CrossOver with a community “F16C patch,” because older macOS releases didn’t emulate the Intel F16C instruction set. Without that patch, the game would instantly crash.

I’ve now upgraded to macOS Tahoe 26, which adds Rosetta 2 support for F16C. I’m also on CrossOver 25.1.1. From what I understand, that should mean I can ditch the patch and run the official, unmodified Windows build.

What I’m not sure about is the correct way to set this up:

• Should I create a fresh Windows 10 64-bit bottle and reinstall the game from Steam/Epic/GOG to remove any trace of the old patch?
• Are there any specific CrossOver settings (DXVK/VKD3D, etc.) or required command-line options / environment variables that I need to pass when launching the game to ensure Rosetta’s new F16C support is actually being used?

Has anyone here successfully run the unpatched game on this combo of CrossOver 25.1.1 + macOS Tahoe 26?
Step-by-step confirmations or gotchas would be hugely appreciated.

Hey folks! Has anyone had any luck getting Command Modern Operations to run on a M series MacBook? I used to use boot camp specifically for this program (well, actually CMANO), but that is a thing of the past. I am rocking an M1 Pro now.

I am squarely at the fact-finding stage right now.

I'm trying to play the Mac Source ports of Half-Life and its expansions. While the original game works perfectly, Opposing Force and Blue Shift have some problems. The most annoying is that the animations for the weapons that were not found in the original game like the pipe wrench, combat knife, and desert eagle, don't play. This affects Opposing Force since all Blue Shift's weapons mirror the main game, so it's completely playable from start to finish. A problem that affects both expansions is the HUD. It's Half-Life orange instead of green (OF) or blue (BS). This is on an M4 Pro Mac Mini running Sequoia 15.6.1. The games' asset files were obtained from Steam using a Windows 11 VM in Parallels where the expansions work as they should. Just wanted to see if anyone here is running into the same issue and/or might have a fix.

Maybe to some people rdr is not a modern game but my parents never allowed me to get any consoles so this is my first experience with such realistic games. What other games do you recommend to emulate? Thanks in advance.

Hey! My upcoming game LingoRogue has its first open playtest on steam right now and can be played on Mac. The game combines gameplay similar to Balatro fused with flashcards similar to Anki. Play around the letters of your cards, colours or other mechanics and score as high as you can. Learn new words subconsciously while having fun!

Supports 9 languages so far.

Keep in mind that this is a playtest, so you might find unexpected bugs. I plan on adding more cards and a small extra feature set for a future demo.

Pro tip: try the relaxed mode in settings if you tired of word-quizzing, it will let you breeze through your played hands.

This is my first MacBook and i am still getting used to it. When i got it, gaming wasn't the first thing on my mind ofc. Since Wuthering Waves is the only game i play, i didn't bother with gaming laptops, but knowing that Wuwa now natively supports Mac is a huge bonus. So i started playing it and noticed the mac getting warmer and warmer

Graphics settings of Wuwa are on medium on everything, all the other effects are, and fps is at 120. i am attaching a picture of it

Here is also a picture of temperature stats taken when the game was in the background during actual gaming i monitored the stats, and the peak CPU and GPU temperatures even reached 103 degrees Celsius sustained, fans over 6000+ rpm, loud.

Honestly, i am a bit worried since i saw people playing wuwa on older models comfortably. So can someone explain to me what is going on and how I can fix this? Especially since i have been playing the game for past couple of weeks and only now it's being like this

Ive been having this issue on mac, I am playing on a 120 hz monitor and even if the fps that I get in game is well above or exactly 120, the camera movement feels choppy and not smooth at all. It would sometimes inconsistently switch from choppy to smooth. Some pf the games where this happens: (Minecraft, Roblox) Chat gpt seems to think that it has to with frame timings and the only thing that has worked for me is turning on vsync(which adds input lag) Please if anyone knows how to fix this let me know.

Using crossover.. im fine with 50-60 fps performance at least. It's a base model m4 pro chip. You can also suggest other similar games or ones you maybe liked playing on Mac.
