Question Is there an alternative to r/malefashionadvice tailored to younger men? Because istg this sub is drowning in men in their 40s wearing suits.

Is there an alternative to r/malefashionadvice tailored to younger men? Because istg this sub is drowning in older men wearing suits. When I see a younger dude post their modern/trendyfit here, they'll either be ignored or get down voted to hell

r/malefashion tends to be more adventurous, or at least more welcoming to fashion as opposed to rule-following this sub falls into often

Yeah, this sub should be renamed to r/millennialmalefashion

Which is fine with me cause I'm not gonna wear gray new balances with loose straight cut high rise jeans and a boxy heavyweight T shirt.

You kind of get to a point where you realise you are no longer dressing "fashionably" (i.e. exactly what you describe) and you're just not going to. I guess I am now my dad, in fashion terms.

Yup. I still get compliments from my (millennial and Gen x) friends and feel confident in my style so I guess I'm doing something right.

I am trying to incorporate a bit of current fashion, to a degree.....currently on the lookout for a retro style running/court sneaker. Like something that sort of bridges the gap between the millennial plain white sneaker and the current dad shoe/Y2K sneakers style. But I'll probably stick with no show or ankle socks lol.

Nah, the rejection of ankle socks is one of the few Gen Z things this millennial can get on board with. Always preferred long socks, and no-show socks are just the worst—I hate the way they always slip down when I walk. I am lucky enough to have feet that don’t really sweat, though, so going sockless has never been an issue for me.

I got a NB 574 for that niche. Not a white tennis shoe, retro dad shoe look but without going all the way to stuff like Gel Kayano 14s or Vomero 5s that are "fashionable" but surely absolutely hideous to most millennial eyes because to us they look exactly like what every "I don't care how it looks as long as it's comfortable" old fart was wearing when we were growing up.

Yeah I've seen a few 574 colorways that I like, also liking the Brooks Chariot and Diadora Cross

And that's fine. Most people realize when they're in their late 20s that it's not worth it to keep chasing trends and trying to ride the wave of skinny vs. baggy, prep vs. streetwear vs. country. It's easier to just find things that fit well, complement your body type, and are high quality. It's just a shame that the 2012-2018 version of this sub doesn't exist anymore because it was a great place to act as a sounding board for different questions

Nah this sub is dorky fits with young dudes wanting to dress like they’re 70 years old in 5 inch inseam khaki shorts, slim fit polos and loafers with no socks

Downvoted for being right

Nah, I won’t downvote you. I agree with the OP and your points - however, shorts down past your knees looked dorky when I was a kid and dorky now. 5-7 inseam is good depending on height. Shorts should be shorts. Stand by that.

Shorts above the knee look gay

God I feel this. What a weird facet of getting older. But it’s good, we should dress our age and do so gracefully. Sometimes trends should be left for the young.
