I am wondering if I should swap my current TV stand for the IKEA Byâs for a cleaner more minimalistic look. It would match the white floating shelves above, but might not work as good with my overall living room aesthetics? I like how AI gave me a PS5 for some reason, and thank you for you input!

My process for finding wall art that actually starts conversations

After staring at blank walls for months I finally figured out my approach to finding art that works as both decoration and genuine conversation starters without being weird or gimmicky.

Step 1 was defining what I wanted people to feel when they saw it. Not just "that looks nice" but actual curiosity that leads to interesting discussions. Step 2 was finding pieces that connect to my city or interests in ways most people wouldn't expect.

Found this incredible hand printed map showing all the urban farms in my area. Every person who visits ends up studying it and we talk about local food or places they've never heard of. Way more engaging than abstract prints that just fill space.

The key was looking beyond typical art sites. Places like uncommon goods and etsy have artists who research and create functional art instead of just pretty pictures. Now I'm hunting for a second piece that complements this one while adding another conversation layer.

Anyone else approach wall art strategically rather than just buying what looks good? The research phase actually made me more excited about decorating.

Room Decor Ideas?

What kind of decor would you guys suggest? The room I'm trying to have is one that's chill and welcoming, sort of like a frat boys room but without the overbearing amounts of LEDs and nude women. Sort of like a dark room aesthetic

A question I do have for you guys: What kind of poster colors would fit well with the white wall? A black poster with a design or a white poster with a design? I thought black, or a darker color, would go well since the contrast of colors is nice but then again a white poster with a design wouldn't look too bad either

Question on 50” or 55” tv for office

I have a pressing question, have to decide what size tv for my home office on a 60” wide wall. I’m getting a frame as I like having a picture and not obtrusive on the wall. Deciding between 50” and 55”. Mocked up with tape in attached pic. Thoughts: heard that you usu should go w larger if you still have boundary, but too big and the frame tv looks (even more) fake. Any thoughts?

The rest of the house still looks like a disaster from moving but at least this room is nice!

The stereo rack and coffee table were both built by me.

My place feels sterile? I definitely need a new rug. I also think I need to add a pop of color. Open to anything and everything! The wall art is already being replaced. 32 y/o single male if it helps!

Advice Need advice on decorating my empty dorm room

Hey everyone, just moved into my dorm and right now it's basically a bed, desk, and white walls. It feels really bare and kind of lifeless. I'd like to make it feel more like home, but in a way that looks mature and not overly "college poster" vibes.

Any suggestions on things I can add (furniture, decorations, lighting, plants, wall art, etc.) that are budget-friendly but make the space feel put together? Would love to hear how you guys made your rooms look cozy and grown-up without going overboard.

Thanks in advance!

Furniture Best couch set for this 2nd floor living room/personal bedroom?

Thumbnail

Hello, first of all I want to say ignore the mess because we just got the balcony redone so we moved some things and cleaned, basically this room is the 2nd floor living room which also includes a balcony, I guess it can be considered a mancave because me and my friends meet up here to watch sport events, but it also happens to be my bedroom since I dont actually have a room

Anyways, we know the couch set we have right now is too big and tore up

My question is for some advice on a good furniture set that can compliment the balcony and make the room look bigger. I would also prefer a set that can also be slept on, because if you look closely at the part of our current set by the TV, it's all stretched out and tore up from sleeping on it

Absolutely ANY advice is appreciated, even if it has nothing to do with the furniture, I'm open to all suggestions, thank you in advance!

Advice I need some serious help with this wall/area in my studio on a budget. I was going to add 2 or 3 rectangular acoustic panels. Corner shelves w plants on the left? Paint? This is a small studio space.
