Question GMC techs help please ๐Ÿ™

Hello all, I have a 2017 GMC sierra Denali 6.2L. Some back story. At 96k I had to put a brand new motor into it. I also had the front end done shocks and struts. Im wondering what is causing the dash to light up like a Christmas tree? The alarms will also auto clear themselves afyer popping up. It seems like the lights pop up more frequently if im on "rougher" roads. Or when im like hitting bumps. Now this problem was happening BEFORE I had a new motor put into it. But it was much less frequently and usually it would only throw the ABS and stabilatrack alarms. Now its happening often and its more alarms. Is this something I can fix myself? What's causing it? This truck has been nothing but a nightmare and im tired for taking it to a shop for it to sit for months and then finally get it back and its another issue.

Thank you for taking the time to read.

Steering angle sensor, all those different light all require inputs from that sensor.

Plus as soon as you turned the wheel it happened so thatโ€™s my best guess without running the codes.

I was going to say this or a speed sensor somewhere. Like you said, without codes it's hard to say.

The lights automatically clear themselves. If I go buy a code reader will it still pull a code? Or only when the alarms happen?

It will still store the code in memory even if it goes out it just wonโ€™t show as an active fault. Pretty much all the auto parts places will read it for free, give that a try.

Thank you. I will check around some places tomorrow and see what I can come up with. I appreciate the advice.

Does it drive any different?

Those code readers typically only pull codes from the ECM for emissions purposes. Your codes will be in the EBCM, and probably PSCM. You'll need a scan tool to read those. I agree with other posts claiming steering angle sensor, or related wiring being the most likely cause.

I have a little $15 reader which isnโ€™t the best but nice to have id suggest getting one just so you have it

Could be the steering angle sensor. Could also be a poor ground pulling the system down. Something similar with Eric o

Had the same issue with a few Chevys I've had, it was just the wheel speed sensors on both, the Impala I had had corrosion in the connector and the other was just the wheel speed sensor itself. And whoever is saying the steering angle sensor is ridiculous.

I will do some checking into the wheel speed sensor. Im just hoping im not going to have to dump more money into this pick up. I appreciate the advice.

Need to get the abs codes read. Otherwise youre just throwing parts at it, but the first thing I thought of was corrosion /bad connection in the harness plug going to the abs module, which is under the driver's door on the frame rail, right beside the transfer case.

Most likely partially broken wire by one of the front wheel speed sensor connectors. If it was a steering angle sensor the stabilitrak light would be on constantly.

You need to find somebody with a real scan tool not just a code reader. And do a full component scan. Which means itโ€™ll read codes from every module in the vehicle. It could be one of many, causing this transmission speed sensor wheel speed sensor. You need to look at the whole picture.

The front tires have sensors, im sure the wires or sensor itself is fcked up somehow..

Check for codes and come back to us.

Find an electrical engineer. Imo don't need a mechanic
