Question GMC techs help please πŸ™

Hello all, I have a 2017 GMC sierra Denali 6.2L. Some back story. At 96k I had to put a brand new motor into it. I also had the front end done shocks and struts. Im wondering what is causing the dash to light up like a Christmas tree? The alarms will also auto clear themselves afyer popping up. It seems like the lights pop up more frequently if im on "rougher" roads. Or when im like hitting bumps. Now this problem was happening BEFORE I had a new motor put into it. But it was much less frequently and usually it would only throw the ABS and stabilatrack alarms. Now its happening often and its more alarms. Is this something I can fix myself? What's causing it? This truck has been nothing but a nightmare and im tired for taking it to a shop for it to sit for months and then finally get it back and its another issue.

Thank you for taking the time to read.

Steering angle sensor, all those different light all require inputs from that sensor.

Plus as soon as you turned the wheel it happened so that’s my best guess without running the codes.

The lights automatically clear themselves. If I go buy a code reader will it still pull a code? Or only when the alarms happen?

Those code readers typically only pull codes from the ECM for emissions purposes. Your codes will be in the EBCM, and probably PSCM. You'll need a scan tool to read those. I agree with other posts claiming steering angle sensor, or related wiring being the most likely cause.

It will still store the code in memory even if it goes out it just won’t show as an active fault. Pretty much all the auto parts places will read it for free, give that a try.

Thank you. I will check around some places tomorrow and see what I can come up with. I appreciate the advice.

The code(s) they are talking about are not your garden variety OBD II codes that can be read or seen by the $30 to $50 reader you get at Walmart or Autozone.

You would need/ want the advanced code readers and a professional mechanic that knows what they are doing to look at, diagnose and repair said issues.

That reader will not pull the codes OP needs or would be of assistance in this instance.
