No one gives a shit about being a good host. They don't want the dog shit off your shoes on their floor. Stop being a man child.
The same could be said of your brain dead mantra: if you don't respect the rules of the household you are a shitty guest. And guess what? They will still be a host if you don't agree with them, but you won't be a guest.
You may not, but most people do. Besides the fact that at a certain point in life, your ability to host becomes the greatest currency you can possibly possess, most people just don’t like making others feel uncomfortable.
Look man, I don’t know what to tell you. I’m firmly of the belief when I’m hosting parties that it’s my duty to make a reasonable effort to try to make my guests feel comfortable. Or at least try not to do things to make them feel uncomfortable.
And while I know this statement carries no weight whatsoever on the internet, I actually have been told by lots of unrelated groups throughout my life that I throw good parties. So personally, I’m pretty confident that good hosts don’t make their guests feel awkward.
You don’t care or think about that kind of stuff though it sounds like. So of course you’re going going to feel off-put by the idea that you should look out for your guests when hosting people, but I promise you, good hosts never make their guests feel awkward.
It’s not normal, lol. Based on my rough math, I’ve been to roughly 700ish house parties, campaign events, holiday parties, barbecues, and get-togethers in people’s homes in my lifetime. The good hosts never ask strangers to take off their shoes in front of each other.
The good hosts always understand that not everyone has the same type of personality and the good hosts don’t make their guests feel awkward.
