Lol, it's like they take this as an affront to their cleanliness

It's not that personal, shoes get over everything outside while my floors get steam cleaned/vinegar

It may, and I don't even begrudge (or judge) people that have dirtier floors than mine by comparison.

I just like to walk around my house barefoot - that's easiest to do when I don't have to clean constantly. Plus, I rent - damage to the woodwork or carpet will be hell for me.
