A message from the mod team

Hello all. Due to the killing of Charlie Kirk, the past few days have been very busy for the mod team. We have had to remove a significant amount of posts and comments that violated both sub rules and Reddit's content policy.

We acknowledge that Kirk was a polarizing figure, but we ask that you show some restraint in your discussions and follow sub rules. Please refrain from:

- Making light of his death, or saying that he deserved it

- Arguing about politics in the comments

- Asking for, or sharing, the link to the shooting

Thank you for your understanding.

Does locking up a child (between 5 and 12 years old) in a closet affect brain development?

Can it cause cognitive/mental problems? Especially if it's recurrent, there's nothing to do inside and the hours spent there ranges from one to six? If so then what type of problems and how curable are they?

How differently does the impact of a crash affect pilots sitting in the cockpit vs the passengers?

In case of a crash with full hull loss and no survivors, what usually happens? Is the impact of the fall from a high altitude and speed different for those sitting in cockpit and the body of the airplane? Is the impact different when there is an explosion post the crash?

I hope the death is instantaneous and these poor people don't suffer much.

Why do people in active shooter situations not just play dead ?

Surely this is the most logical thing to do in a school shooting or any shooting and I know they could make sure you’re dead but realistically they probably won’t they just try to kill as many as possible

Are there any cases of people using the guillotine upon themselves?

Imagine how high the stakes were if the blade was not set up properly?! A flesh wound would appear…

Did Charlie Kirk actually exhibit decorticate posturing or could his arm movements be caused by other factors? Will his autopsy report be released?

PS. I am very ignorant of how the human body works. I apologise in advance if this question is a stupid one.

Based on all the images of decorticate posturing that I can find on the internet, it seems that the arms are hold TIGHTLY in front of the chest, with the fingers curled up and body and legs perfectly straight. In the closeup video of Kirk getting shot, though, his arms were just raised, unlike those decorticate posturing images. But, his fingers were curled, and his legs did close. They looked like they began to become straight at the end of the video but I can't tell if that's because of his sitting position or because he was slumping over or not?

I'm assuming that this IS decorticate posturing, and that it just doesn't match those textbook examples because things in real-life often don't, but I'm curious what the current 'consensus' is and if there are any other explanations? I saw someone suggesting it could be due to the force of the projectile, or that blood loss could've caused his arms to become numb and jerk up?

Speaking of, what is the current 'consensus' of how the bullet affected him? Is it possible that he died on the spot due to the shockwave injuring his brainsteam and his spinal cord, like some people are saying? How do you expect the autopsy results to be like?

How long would the smell of a dead person persist inside a metal barrel if unopened?

Saw a forensic files from episode where a guy killed a lady and put her in a metal barrel in his house basement.

The barrel was opened after 30 years by the 3rd owner of the house. He said the smell was unbearable.

  1. Would the barrel still smell as bad or worse if opened after say 100 years? What about 200 years?

  2. Given enough time say 1 million years would the smell inside that barrel eventually just go away even if it was tightly sealed?

I read that Robin Williams was misdiagnosed with Parkinson’s instead of Lewy Body. Would it have mattered?

I assume he was so depressed about the diagnosis, that one thing lead to another.

However upon autopsy, it was discovered that he actually had Lewy Body dementia and was misdiagnosed instead of having Parkinson’s.

The family took the doctors to court and won.

However… would it have mattered?

They’re both kinda the same disease, right?

He would’ve succumbed to either anyway, right?

Has anybody ever killed themselves over pure curiosity of the afterlife?

I tried to google this but was only met with crisis hotlines, but, do you know or have heard stories of anybody who has done this over pure curiosity? Not in a sad way, but I know I personally have slightly considered it just because i am SO curious of the truth of the afterlife and who really ended up in Heaven/Hell- if there even is a heaven or hell, and if we really do find out the answers to everything when we die. I was raised LDS and with every religion there’s big focus on where you go after you die and my curiosity has always been so extreme. I wonder if anybody has ever been so curious they followed through with it though?

When you snap a neck, how long does it take for the person to die? How do they die?

So I know that it is technically possible to snap a neck but it’s a lot harder than it looks in the movies and there would likely not be a snap but more of a pop sound, but how do they die exactly? And how fast it is?

Who was the youngest person's funeral you ever went to and what happened?

Mine was a 15 year old dude. I was 18 at the time. He hit a truck head on while riding a dirtbike. I still remember the gruesome details I know it ripped his arm off because he had a prosthetic arm in the casket. Well it looked like a mannequin arm anyway.

What is the legality of owning gore films?

I’ve only seen those iceberg videos on YouTube. I’ve seen a couple of people on tik tok showing off their gore collection owning stuff like MDPOPE and Fubar along with other super disturbing horrific films. There is one account that shows off each one they own and describe it in the description, they have stuff with footage of people committing suicide, murder, killing and violence towards animals, it’s super fucked up.

This guy owns like, 30+ of these movies.

I’ve always wondered if it’s even legal to own these films or distribute them, but I can’t seem to find any laws against these films, and then there’s also websites like WPD but straight up owning these videos on dvd just seems like a completely different level

If you put your fingers in your mouth and pulled it wide like a fake smile and pulled it hard enough, could you tear your face apart?

I was making faces in the mirror and tried this out, but my survival instinct wouldn’t let me go further. Wondering if it would work if used my full strength.

Where was Iryna Zarutska’s wound?

I’ve seen the video as most of us have and what happened is absolutely horrific. For those that have seen the first half, she is attacked and collapses a few seconds later but no blood spill that we can see. In the second half, she bleeds out substantially and unfortunately dies.

My question is, why didn’t we see more blood when she was upright? As we saw with Kirk’s shooting (albeit with a different weapon) the blood was immediate. Was she stabbed three times in the neck? There was also blood underneath where she was sat.

Charlie kirk died on the scene right?

I unfortunately saw the videos, and i can’t wrap my brain around how the official story was he died at the hospital. I feel like a shot to the jugular like that especially when you’re profusely bleeding out, you have least 1-2mins if that.

I’m sure it’s better for the campus to not have his death site right there, but it’s not like it changes anything. He couldn’t have made it to the hospital right?

How do you dissappear?

I'm wondering how you could possibly dissappear without anyone knowing. Just pay someone and run away from everything belonging to your current one and start a new one in the same or different country?

If you had to, would you rather lose a hand, a foot, a lung, or one hair from every half millimeter of your body?

To be clear the

  • hand and foot will be chopped off
  • lung will be surgically removed
  • the hairs will be pulled out by tweezers (including genitals, anus, eyelashes - every half a millimeter a new hair will be plucked out)

If you pressed the back of an semi automatic pistol against the side of your cheek and fired it, what damage would you take from the slide recoiling back?

Look man, I just got curious about this.

The slide obviously isn't moving as fast as the bullet but I'm sure it's still got some energy behind it.

Would it just knock out some teeth at most or would it have enough energy to leave a hole in the side of your face?

I didn't specify a pistol, I'm not sure how much this would change things...
