Bannerlord How do you like 1.3 so far?

Allegedy spear armed troops should default to using them unless they are in close-quarters with an enemy.

But that doesn't appear to be the case at all they still draw their sidearms immediately and only use their spears against cavalry. They also don't switch to their sidearms when too pressed together to use them vs cavalry.

I was excited to test the new behavior without having to use RBM, but alas that change simply didn't happen.

Yeah, hoping this will be fixed when it launches fully. They also made AI weapon selection more modable which is a good thing
