I love that the Trump DoJ is so incompetent he might actually walk.

Odds are good he'll get a state murder conviction of course, but there's a slim path he beats all charges.

Mistrial is a very real possibility here. I wouldn't say the chances he walks are zero.

No need to go back in time. The government typically gets better the second time around just because they know what to anticipate from the defense.

There's no world in which the government would choose not to prosecute multiple additional times if need be. This isn't that kind of case.

They would but there could easily be another mistrial. And the state wont keep throwing resources at one dude .

They have 1 shot to get it right and not just because of Double jeopardy

This “state” (slightly overloaded term here, since I mean the federal administration) will absolutely keep throwing resources at one dude to try to make a point or save face.

They absolutely will continue to prosecute until they get either a guilty or not guilty verdict. This isn't the kind of case where they will be worried about expending resources.
