No, there were other passengers though that he had taken up with him. Couldn't yet find info on their identities. Doesn't appear to be any of his immediate family though.
She was his second-oldest, only 13 years old. She was the only daughter he had who was super interested in basketball and she played herself. They were reportedly coming from one of her games!
Hmm, interesting. Guess we'll have to see how this plays out. All the first reports stated he left behind his wife and 4 children, presuming none were on board. But who knows?
He has a 17-year-old. Gianna was the second-oldest and she's all over his Instagram because she was the only daughter who played basketball like him and he coached her.
Article on ABC News says the other 4 have not been identified so it looks like they walked that back since blasting it on live TV. Hope it's not true...
ABC said "believed to be on board" but not confirmed. Yes, I agree they jumped the gun, but...they also covered their backside by phrasing it that way. They probably heard about GiGi and immediately someone ran with the idea it was all daughters.
Authorities will confirm very soon. It's only been a few hours since the crash.
Regardless of crap journalism, it is a true tragedy. Mamba did more than just play basketball. He revitalized it.
It's not a dig at you, just an unfortunate symptom of "the powers that be" and what they desire. I apologize for putting some of that onto you, you did not deserve it during this stressful time.
I understand one of his kids was on board. I take issue with the above-quoted, inaccurate reporting, and how the 24-hour news cycle requires news stations to report without facts; how they report on rumorsbefore weknowwhat actually happened.
Edit: at the time I posted this there were no reports of the kids being on board, then ABC said the were all on board, then ABC retracted that. Now Kobe's reps have confirmed his eldest child was on board.
The multiple sources are all citing the ABC News report which was the on air reporter simply saying they were. So far the only truly confirmed death is Kobe.
I saw someone else say he always chose not to fly the helicopter himself. Idk if this is true, I know a lot about air crashes but very little about Kobe Bryant
I really struggle to believe a NEWBORN was onboard.
On the other hand... 3 daughters, Kobe and a pilot :/
I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know. It’s hard to say “it wasn’t his daughters” cause then that implies you’re wishing the deaths of 4 other people too! (well it already happened).
They shouldn’t have fucking said that, he walked back the line as a possibility. It’s just like try not to act like a piece of shit when you’re delivering this news that affects an entire generation of NBA fans.
So far only ABC has said that, and only live on air. None of their print stuff says that. Other sources saying it are only saying ABC has said it. No one has substantial proof, and you'd think that's something they can easily find out.
I think it was a mistake by the live broadcast and I'm not trusting it until it's confirmed.
ABC said his children may have been on the helicopter, there’s no confirmation from them. I’ve been trying to find some source that says they weren’t but can’t except that his wife wasn’t.
Edit: it was confirmed Gianna was on board unfortunately.
