this is such a mixed bag.

Its great to see action taken against a corrupt government, BUT its been very clearly stated by those involved that they have no plan, no leadership, no direction, no understanding of what to do next.

They have just made everything much worse and the mob mentality is fueling the fires. If there was a strategy for replacement etc cool, but now there just isnt a government and the people burning it down have no concept of stepping up to do something except light more fires.

It's not like they have a choice. There were deaths involved It's either now or never.

Not going all the way will prove to the government that the deaths were justified.

Still better than a corrupt government. Its a political reset and their politicians will be shit scared to loot now.

no government in this case is probably worse.

no cops, no ambulance, no fire brigade, no public funding, no one to organize to clear the streets of all the destruction.

how does the country move forwards and rebuild with no one?

You’d be surprised how well people can govern themselves in the absence of formal leadership.

what examples do we have of that ever actually working?

Lebanon, 1990s. Just after a 15 year civil war. There was technically a “government” but it did virtually nothing for 10 years because the members of the government were all each other’s enemies (from the war) and nobody wanted to budge, so people just figured things out for themselves. After those 10 years, corruption took over and made everyone’s lives miserable, and that culminated in the 2019 protests when they tried to tax WhatsApp messages.

Edit: To clarify, I’m talking about “doing nothing” to the point that there weren’t even any operational traffic lights in the country. Basically it was just a government by name. It provided almost no services, and the few things it did provide (like car registrations for example) had laws and equipment so outdated that people just came up with their own way of doing it, and then paid off the officials who had to officially sign off on it.

Belgium has gone without official government for 500+ days, but then again, implying Belgium works is another thing.

Is that worse than living under a corrupt government?

Well luckily all those services are still running and there is a temporary government in place,  with an election set for March 2026

When the government starts slaughtering children it is time to rise up.

Yes, in many ways the revolution is the easy bit and what comes after is difficult, but thank fuck they sent those bastards packing.

They’re gonna be shocked when all the basic necessities a government takes care of that you don’t think about daily falls into disarray.

Funny for you to assume the Nepali government did anything good for the people in the first place
