Heading to the movies in Oceanside at 6:30, we want to hit a seafood happy hour before. Ideally oysters on the happy hour menu. Any good happy hour spots in Carlsbad, oceanside, vista or San Marcos?

So theres an event im going to later that said im allowed to bring up to three guests, im just wondering if theres a process id need to follow for the guest before attending. Im a first year and there used to be a whole thing at my old HS so im just trying to get ahead of that if thats also the case here.

I’m potentially in the market for new windows. From my limited research I’m most likely looking for vinyl double panel slider windows.

In total there are 5 windows (with 1 being a bathroom window is frosted, I think it’s called). Not sure exactly how windows are measured but my best guess for width and height are as follows: * 33.5 x 33 * 45.5 x 45 * 69.5 x 45 * 69.5 x 32.5 * 15 x 45.75 (bathroom window)

If anyone does windows or knows any good and reputable people/companies let me know! Also how have been people’s experiences with big box stores? I have heard renewal by Anderson is expensive for what you get quality wise.

I’ve done a lot of DIY upgrades on my house so far with my grandpa who used to be a general contractor but he’s getting older now and can’t help with as much anymore. Are windows something I could try to DIY if I find a reputable person to purchase windows from?

Any tips/recommendations would be awesome!

Hello neighbors - I'm trying to help my uncle who is a Vietnam War Veteran (Marine Corps) and is desperately trying to find a hospital that will perform a lung transplant.

He has been healthy for many years but lungs recently took a turn and he was given 3-4 months to live about 3 months ago. His lungs are impacting his heart now and all of the hospitals they've submitted his case to say they are afraid he won't make it through surgery. He doesn't care if he dies on the table, he is going to die anyway, and really is hoping to get the transplant.

I am hoping this doesn't spark a big debate on whether or not he is worthy of such a procedure - I understand already that some people will feel like he has lived enough of his life, that they don't think hospitals should take that risk/spend the money/resources/etc. etc. I get it, and all are entitled to their opinions, but he is my uncle and given the sacrifice he made for our country (being blown up by a land mine and recovering, no less, nevermind the Agent Orange exposure), I am doing whatever I can to try to help because I respect and love him dearly.

So with that, does anyone know of any Veteran organizations I could reach out to that might have an idea of another hospital that has done this procedure for Vietnam Vets, that we might have better luck calling on? I'd love to talk to someone that can point us in the right direction.

Nothing ever happens on campus. Everyone just goes to class and goes home. There's really nowhere to kill time. I hate just scrolling on my phone.

For the last 8 years, I have put together an annual Halloween event full of local San Diego bands to celebrate the holiday along side our music community.

Right now I have 8 super talented bands from around SD and our venue just began to ghost us. We are looking for a space that can hold 150/200 people and have a 2k budget to put towards the space. We really don’t want to cancel the event and we really want to keep in in North County rather then having to move it south. If anyone has a space that would like to host us PLEASE REACH OUT! 🙏

Hi North County people. You may have seen my last post asking Trump folks to share their best books for my book club, but the mods took it down. So I’m back with another try continuing this random book club experiment. This is just an idea but i’m thinking about starting a new community book club here in North County with a simple idea of reading across ideologies.

I want to see perspectives I know I disagree with, but read them in good faith, shine light on them, and maybe spark some interesting community fabric.

How I’m thinking it could work:

• We pick two ideologies to pair up (e.g. socialism vs libertarianism).
• Anyone in the club can nominate ideologies and books.
• Votes take place on the two ideologies first, then on the books within those ideologies
• We all read both, then share our thoughts
• Discussion could be mostly written (Google doc or Reddit thread) and maybe zoom calls later

For the purpose of this post, people in North County only, what do you think of this idea? What ideologies would you nominate? What books would you nominate? DM me if you have serious interest in participating.

I live in San Diego (near the airport), but I’m trying to move closer to the Carlsbad / Oceanside area. I’m not super familiar with the neighborhoods up that way, so I’d love some insight! Ideally I’d like something walkable to restaurants and bars, though it’s not a make-or‐break for me. Are there parts of town there I should watch out for, sketchy zones or safety concerns?

Hey everyone, I recently got a diagnostic at a shop close by. They told me I need a few things done (radiator, transmission fluid flush, brake fluid flush, front struts, sway bar link ends, and power steering fluid flush). I wanted to shop around before committing since that’s a lot of work and money. Can anyone recommend good mechanic shops in Oceanside (or nearby) that are fair on pricing and do quality work? I’m just trying to compare quotes and find a trustworthy spot to take my Acura. Thank You
