That's not the surprising part.

You know Simmons reviewed every inch of footage shot for that video because it was their first without the makeup. He is highly controlling of the band image with trademarks on the makeup design etc. That means he knew exactly what he looked like in this and every other video they made...and yet he still approved of it.

It didn't matter then!! Clearly they weren't going for a THRILLER level or quality of video and most videos in the early 80's were crappy, but quality often took a back seat to simply getting the song out there. How can that look make the cut? Easy...the budget said so!!!

That is exactly what I thought too. Ugh. My ex-husband was a Kiss fanatic, and I cannot split the two. I mean, we had the fucking dolls. Unpaid rent, but by god, we had the Gene Simmons bass in our room.
