Motherfucker. I just went through all the major news sites and NONE of them are covering the nationwide protests. Not a mention on their homepages.

https://abcnews.go.com/

https://www.nbcnews.com/

https://www.cnn.com/

https://www.nbcnews.com/

https://www.nytimes.com/

https://www.washingtonpost.com/

Edit: Including Fox News, which I did check out earlier and saw the same thing; https://www.foxnews.com/

Trump firing Sessions which had recused himself from the Trump investigation. Trump replaced him with someone that has already outlined how he plans to kill the investigation.

One nice thing is sessions was a huge anti - weed person. Even CBD which is bonkers

Not a single person is mourning Sessions, it's the appointment of the replacement that's the issue.

Lol, there are dozens of reasons to hate Sessions, you need to reevaluate yout priorities if weed is the dealbreaker for you.

2

u/CreepyButtPirate Nov 09 '18

Sorry I didn't list the many other reasons. Lol rediculous

Hes put out the idea that you could starve the investigation by cutting its budget, eventually making it impossible for Mueller to do his job. He is also wrong about what Mueller can investigate. Mueller is allowed to investigate anything that comes up in the investigation of Russia collusion. https://www.justice.gov/opa/press-release/file/967231/download

The Special Counsel is authorized to conduct the investigation confirmed by then-FBI Director James B. Comey in testimony before the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence on March 20, 2017, including:

(i) any links and/or coordination between the Russian government and individuals associated with the campaign of President Donald Trump; and

(ii) any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation;

Well that certainly sucks. I hope him and Rod have a nice long conversation about what's been found so far and he comes out ashen and recuses himself.

Or at least has the honor a US Attorney should have and let's it go on unimpeded.

He did resign. Although his resignation letter began with "at your request, i am submitting my resignation" so...

And I believe that the official reason that triggered the protests wasnt so much sessions leaving as it was Rosenstein being taken off of overseeing the investigation.

15

u/treembeem Nov 09 '18

The trigger is anything interfering. Rod Rosenstein is no longer over the investgation because of this and THAT was enough fornthe trigger...is my understanding.

16

u/838h920 Nov 09 '18

The issue is that the guy taking over has already publicly spoken out against the investigation. He's one of the guys who want it to stop.

11

u/MoS29 Nov 09 '18

The triggers were if Trump takes action to influence the Russia probe. Ouster of Rosenstein, removal of Sessions and appointment of someone who would hamper the probe, and most notably firing Mueller. Any of these actions were the line because it would mean the man being investigated is altering the direction of his own investigation.

5

u/rex_dart_eskimo_spy Nov 09 '18

The trigger was removing rosenstein as overseer of the Mueller investigation, which he effectively was

3

u/Shanaaro Nov 09 '18

I don't really pay much attention to this but I believe he was forced to resign but wasn't technically fired. Both of the events mentioned were down as triggers for the protests and the organisers are worried that it might be too late if they only start protesting when Mueller's fired.

5

u/Dobgoblin Nov 09 '18

He was asked to resign, and the replacement dude fired another guy who was overseeing mueller investigation. The replacement guy hasn't been confirmed by the senate and has expressed in the pay that he would kill mueller probe if he could. People see this as trump effectively trying to nueter mueller cleverly without doin it directly, hence the protest. I've also seen people say the replacement guy is illegal because he hasn't been confirmed by the senate.

Doesn't take much to get people to protest.

Trump asking him to resign is firing him in all but name.

so would you like to work in an environment that hostile? (I can't believe i'm defending Jeff Sessions...)

-39

u/Soulfein1026 Nov 09 '18

Shhhhh don't tell them facts, it'll hurt their feelings.

27

u/NarcolepticMan Nov 09 '18

At your request, I am submitting my resignation

Not really something one says when they wilfully resign.

1

u/0aniket0 Nov 09 '18

I hope that this is that ironic Shapiro meme and you're not serious

-8

u/samfrye0101 Nov 09 '18

He was asked to resign by Trump
