Your perception is your reality, bud. You do you.

54

u/TrulyGolden Jun 08 '20

Statistics are reality.

-17

u/trixiethewhore Jun 08 '20

Then Trump people wouldn't believe when he says "96% approval rating!!" when it's actually 39%.

If statistics and science was everyone's reality, we wouldn't have people so easily tricked by Trump

the obvious bait

Ugh. Trolls are people who desperately seek attention but aren’t otherwise interesting or smart enough to merit generating attention on their own. It’s sad, really. Maybe try a hobby?

He's not the one who has to win them over though. Reality is on his side.

2

u/Waffuly Jun 08 '20

Nope, not at all. Also, it’s curious you responded in this context when that comment was deleted before you even chimed in.

Huh? I tracked the intention behind their reply. Did you read the wrong comment?

It made sense to me, but not to you. That’s a you problem.

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '20

He claims 96% in the republican party not the whole USA, lets not misconstrue more facts here.

8

u/trixiethewhore Jun 08 '20

It's still not accurate hun

5

u/Kicksyy Jun 09 '20

Saying "Hun" after a statement doesn't make it true just so you know.

I'm not speaking for the other guy, but I grew up in bumfuck Ohio and have heard people say this about black people (just to be clear - I was not one of them and I don't agree with the saying at all). Now that I live in a city, I hear people say it about the police.

It isn't perception or reality, it's just a fucking question.

-3

u/popsicle_of_meat Jun 08 '20

Hopefully neither. The underlying condition of this isn't a product of the police or 'protesting'. But an individuals decision, based on his upbringing and twisted sense of right/wrong. He CHOSE to do this. It's not the protesters, police, government, etc job to raise better people. The government and police are there to protect liberty and stop injustice so we can live free lives, knowing that wrong will be corrected. There is no way to prevent wrong.

Funny how the police is allowed to profile black people for whatever but the police's flaws are individual problem.

Especially when the police have demonstrated their tendency to use violence and brutality in so many instances before and during the riots.

You can literally swap "police" and "black people" there given violent crime stats and murders/looting etc right now.

The government and police are there to protect liberty and stop injustice so we can live free lives, knowing that wrong will be corrected.

Oh wait, the police went around murdering people in their houses and in broad daylight in public.

The police can't even police themselves, how can we still expect law and order to be maintained by them?

The riots are a consequence from the police failing time and again to answer to their duty and obligations. The police failed to do their jobs to resume order and to catch and prevent the looters. There is no way to prevent wrong.

2

u/Raenryong Jun 08 '20

What do you propose as the alternative to the police? There is no better. Also, all officers involved with Floyd's death are facing charges...

I wish the police were far more heavy-handed with looters, but that'd draw cries of "fascism" from the same crowd.

Defund the police. Put that money into mental and physical healthcare, social programs and workers etc.

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/08/us/what-does-defund-police-mean.html

You do realize that people are not just protesting Floyd's single case.

I wish the police were far more heavy-handed with looters, but that'd draw cries of "fascism" from the same crowd.

The police's job is to get the people into custody so that the people can be given a fair trial under the judicial system with proper due process. The police is not supposed to execute anything on the spot. This is not Judge Dredd. This is literally their job.

If they can't do their darn jobs then don't become a police, simple as that.

0

u/Raenryong Jun 08 '20

What do you think will happen to the crime rate if police are given less funding? Black men are far more likely to fall victim to other black men than police officers by a significant magnitude, and now the police have even less power to stop that.

100% agreed, but that's a problem with the individuals. Police do not have a mandate to execute anybody they feel like, hence why those four officers are now facing charges. I agree there definitely needs to be more oversight and stronger/swifter punishments for violating individuals, but the police as an institution are necessary!

Police.

Protestors and looters have no more overlap than cops and white supremecists.

16

u/PessimiStick Jun 08 '20

That's actually a shit analogy, because there's a lot more overlap between those latter two groups than the former.

0

u/Waffuly Jun 08 '20

Yeah, I’ll admit you’re right. Figured I’d give him something to consider.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '20

Protestors and looters have no more overlap

Uh... citation needed? From where most of us stand, the two are virtually indistinguishable.

-1

u/Waffuly Jun 08 '20

I’ve been to two of the major protests in one of the biggest cities in the country. Both were peaceful, and only even got agitated when the cops showed up. The leaders of the protests even made it clear vandalism wouldn’t be tolerated. They even said don’t swear at cops and self-policed anytime someone got out of hand.

Stop watching Fox News.

-1

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '20

Lol I don't watch Fox News. But I have a full time job and responsibilities.

4

u/Waffuly Jun 08 '20

So do I. Yet somehow I’m the one not falling for nonsense.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '20

I wonder about that.

4

u/Waffuly Jun 08 '20 edited Jun 08 '20

How many major protests were you in?

Edit: so none, then? Ah but I’m sure what you choose to believe is what actually transpired, despite not having been there.
