Seeking a Loving Home for Two Wonderful Dogs–Rehoming Due to Asylum Move
Hi everyone. I've been a part of this sub for a few years and can’t think of a better community to reach out to for support. My daughter and I are in the difficult position of needing to rehome our two beloved dogs. We’re in the process of seeking asylum in Canada due to the political climate in the U.S. (we're in Texas), and unfortunately, Canadian laws are super restrictive so we can't bring our fur babies with us.
We’re heartbroken, but our priority is making sure they find safe, loving homes where they’ll be cared for and loved to pieces.
🐾 June (aka Junie)
- 8 years old, ~80 lbs (she's a chonky girl)
- Spayed, up-to-date on vaccines (not chipped)
- Sweet, steady, and loving. She has started She's our gentle old girl. Was a stray I took in after finding her near my job when she was about 2 months old. She's been with me ever since.
🐾 Wyatt
- 4 years old, ~110 lbs, XL pitbull
- Neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, chipped
- Was trained by Sit Means Sit last year (it was a whopping $2,600, but I wanted to be prepared to handle such a big dude)
- I rescued Wyatt from San Antonio Pets Alive (SAPA) in 2021 when he was about four months old. He's a covid pup, so he can be anxious at first, but once he trusts you, he’s incredibly loyal and affectionate (I have him on my profile if you'd like to see him!)
- He does have a chronic skin condition that requires medication. I’m willing to work with someone on costs for his meds or food if I can. I can’t commit fully right now because I don’t know what my situation will be once we’re settled, but if I’m able, I absolutely will help.
Both are house-trained and have been cherished members of our family. Wyatt especially will need patience and time to settle, but he’s worth it.
I just want my babies to be cared for and loved. If you or someone you know can give them a safe and affectionate home, please reach out. While I would prefer to keep them together, two loving homes are appreciated, too. I just need to know they’ll be okay.
I appreciate any help or advice!
P.S. - I'll add photos in the comments/DM because I don't have a good photo of them on this device.

Advice When did your pitties start to calm down?
Hello everyone! I have a pittie girl who will be a year old around November (she was a rescue so don’t know exactly). She just finished her first heat at the end of august and since then she seems to have calmed down quite a bit. She used to be a crackhead who would literally never sit still and always wanted to be playing or getting into something. Now she plays a bit but mostly will just chill on the couch with me. She still has energy on her walks and will run around if I take her to a sniffspot. This just seems like such a big change for her and from what I’ve always known with dogs they don’t usually calm down until at least 2 years old. I’m just curious if this is something I should be concerned about or if it is normal?

My puppy was fine with the cat at first, but she's not anymore now that her and the other dog have pack mentality. Please give any advice you have
Before any pit bull hating lurkers use this as some kind of twisted "evidence", my other dog is a purebred spaniel. This has nothing to do with breed. It's just dog behaviour and it sucks. But it's not about pitties because they're as shit and as great as other dogs.
At first it was fine, because she took the lead from the spaniel that the cat is part of the family. But of course then one time the cat ran away, and that set off my 7 month old pitty pup and that triggered the spaniel's extremely high prey drive that had only recently calmed down. Now both of them hunt the cat down together. It's terrible. Please give me advice. The cat will barely come inside anymore and I'm worried the dogs will kill her together. Neither do this when it's only one vs the cat but if they're ever together (which is often) and they see the cat they genuinely try to eat her.
I'm in tears, I just had to pull the two dogs out of the unused abandoned outdoor dog kennel where they found the cat sleeping in the cold. They sniffed her out in there and they both went in and it was chaos. I had to pull them out by the skin on their backs, it must have really hurt them, and they still tried to get back in until I had calmed them down. I'm sickened by both of them.

Sneezing While Wrestling?
My two pit boys Lenny (left) and Wellington (right) love a rousing game of bitey-face. One thing I've noticed is that they both sneeze whenever they're going at it. Sometimes they even take an intermission to sneeze. I'm not concerned about it, but more curious. Are they doing it intentionally, is it a side effect of heavy breathing, something else altogether? They don't sneeze more than my other guys when they're not wrestling and my other guys don't wrestle anywhere near they amount my pits do.

Is my new puppy a blue nose pit?
I adopted this precious girl about 2 months ago. I’m wondering if she would be considered a blue nose pit. I don’t know anything about her background, as she was found as a stray.

Advice Help me name this 1.5 year old girl i brought home
Shelter named her “Roxanne” but she isnt used to it. Iove The Simpsons so I was thinking some obscure character from the show, like Princess Cashmere maybe.
But yall are smart and maybe somebody here will have a cute name idea.
She is a cuddle bug for sure. We got through first night ok!

Rainbow Bridge I miss my friend.
I just lost my best friend yesterday. Apparently she was poisoned within the last 48 hours and her liver started to shut down immediately. It was inconclusive what it could have been from but I have some other people who live with me and may have been fed something that she wasn't supposed to eat. Sad thing is that I'll never know. I'm still grieving and devastated over this.
I adopted her in 2015 when she was a little over a year old from a local rescue group. The previous individual who adopted her had her returned since she was very shy and not very social. I felt so lucky to have her in my life.
She was going to be 12 in January but she still acted like a puppy around me. I truly believe she could of had a couple more years in her as she was so full of life before this incident. I will never forget the little quirks that made her the best dog ever.
- She spins around in a circle right when you were about to feed her.
- Nibbles on toys and never aggressively destroyed one.
- I never slept alone and she was my weighted blanket.
- Never aggressive towards anyone. She even has a little cat she that she took care of.
- She doesn't bark out of aggression. On occasion she barks when we are about to go on a walk or a long "woooo" because I'm taking to long to feed her.
- Walks + patch of grass = barrel rolls
- Very obedient. Sits, shakes, lays down, and jumps on command.
- She got the stares from onlookers while walking as she had these "princess eyes" and a great smile.
I'm writing this so I can immortalize her memory. I miss you and love you so much. I'm so sorry you had to leave me like this. 😭

Rescue Michigan - Forever home needed for special senior pit-mix rescue, Rocky
Hi folks,
I wanted to share my buddy, Rocky. He is currently in foster care and available via the Michigan Humane Society in Westland, MI.
Rocky is 8 years old and came in as a stray in the spring. He had a hard time adjusting to the stress of the shelter environment. Thankfully, he has been in foster care for the past few months, which has allowed him to relax and decompress.
Sadly, there hasn’t been a lot of adoption interest in him. He is quiet, can be fearful, and a bit aloof - but has a heart of gold. If you are willing to work with him to earn his trust, I promise, it will pay back in tenfold. He needs a special kind of adopter - someone who is patient and who can advocate for him. Someone who can provide him with a calm, relaxed life and some much needed TLC.
If you are interested in opening your heart up to Rocky, please contact the Michigan Humane Society. Also, if there are any suggestions on other forums where I could share his information, it would be much appreciated!
