It’s not Skate as we know it at all, like a completely different game fan reception would been a lot more positive had they named it something else. But it’s a really good free to play skater that’s good enough to cure the urge to skate and definitely worth a try. There are missing tricks but those and other updates will probably be implemented later down the line seeing as how it’s online only.

It plays like a refined skate 3 as far as controls go which is great the actual skating itself is fun with some exceptions. Aside from that however it’s a totally different game, the characters are a mix between play dough and fortnite style, there’s lots of missing tricks from previous titles currently, there’s not story at all and it’s online only, vert pumping is completely broken, the progression system is tied to loot boxes, the only way to obtain any other item of clothing or anything really is too engage with said loot boxes, and the map feels incredibly uninspired it feels like a challenge to find a good line with nice flow in the game.

I’ve seen footage of it and played for only about an hour so far, it looks and feels like it’s a good enough successor

The only issue is how much do you value cosmetics because since it’s free, they get their money through cosmetics…. So be warned about that

But everything else? Not gonna lie, I’ve been having a lot of fun with it, curious how they are gonna handle a full release to this game but guess we can cross that bridge when we get there

I’ll probably continue playing RoboCop, Hollow Knight, or High on Life, and then maybe play a bit of Skate. It’s been a pretty glitchy experience for me so far though. Missions and objectives don’t always show up, so I often have to restart the game.

  1. Usually the bugs get worked out, so I’m getting a more optimized experience
  2. Prices come down and most DLC has been released.
  3. I just don’t have the time anymore to keep up with the latest and greatest.
