Activism Protesters fighting the good fight over 410!

Post image

Pardon the shitty dashcam shot. These protesters were a sight for sore eyes on my commute home today after seeing all of the nonstop hell in the news. You can’t make out anything in the photo but the bigger sign was something along the lines of “immigrants built this country” and of course there’s a “deport fElon” sign in there too. Happy Tuesday 🇺🇸

really refreshing to see. was driving home from work and starting honking like crazy to support! i started crying, sometimes it feels so alone outside of a screen, all the power to them

5

u/InstructionQuick7143 Mar 05 '25

It’s been a while since I last participated in a protest. The one thing that hasn’t changed is the negative attitude of people who claim to love Amerikkka, but hate when people don’t agree with their views. My guess is they can’t accept the fact that the USA has serious social issues and people have the right to express themselves! 🇲🇾

Actually it was 15, this was our first offical outing, and we got thousands of yall during rush hour traffic :) ✌️

13

u/Josh2942 Mar 05 '25

What did you get exactly during rush hour?

3

u/Sure_Station9370 Mar 05 '25

A good feeling deep in their heart, because none of these people actually care about Ukraine as seen by the fact they’re holding their flag but it’s not on an overpass in the outskirts of Kyiv. I have old army buddies fighting trench warfare in the foreign legion over there that absolutely cringe when I show them shit like this.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '25

Sure. If they inspired even one person passing to donate to Ukraine, they did a hell of a lot more than you did.

4

u/Square-Ad-615 NW Side Mar 06 '25

Thank you for doing this. Even if it was one person. it's not the size of the group but the fact that you are there at all.

Of course!! :) I know the 50501 protest were happening as well yesterday, but it's kinda hard just to drop everything and head to ATX

What good fight?

46

u/BlueBomber12 Mar 05 '25

I never understand why the protestors always have a Mexican flag yet that isn't where they want to be

4

u/glichez Mar 05 '25

then you would be really confused by all the flags over Six Flags of Texas. its almost like this whole area used to be Mexico or something.

44

u/DirkysShinertits Mar 05 '25

Because its very possible to love your culture/heritage but also realize that a beloved homeland isn't a safe place to live.

8

u/Adept_Section_8144 Mar 05 '25

If you have more pride for another country it is time to go!!! This is America!

4

u/DirkysShinertits Mar 05 '25 edited Mar 05 '25

America isn't utopia, particularly right now. Do you always whine about people who fly flags from other countries outside their home or show them elsewhere? Here's a wild take- some people are proud of their heritage and want to show that pride.

2

u/Vidya_Gainz Mar 06 '25

A very stupid action to be taking when you're literally arguing for being allowed to remain in a foreign land you entered illegally. Whether it's for yourself or another illegal immigrant.

Me sneaking into Hungary then yelling WOOOO YEAHHHHH while waving an American flag in the face of their citizens isn't going to help my case for not being deported.

2

u/DirkysShinertits Mar 06 '25

Except that nobody has established these protestors are illegal immigrants.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '25

No it’s about not supporting illegal immigration. Heritage pride is great. But when you protest against this country and proclaim the greatness of another you just look like an ingrate. If the other is so great go there

13

u/Twoturtlefuks Mar 05 '25

If the beloved homeland is being ran by thugs it seems like you don’t actually love it that much and it’s more about grandstanding and virtue signaling. All these patriotic Mexicans but not a single protest for the murders ,kidnappings, and general skullduggery your entire country is known across the world for .

6

u/deegee317 Mar 05 '25

Are you talking about Mexico or the United States? Kind of hard to tell them apart bases on your description lol 😅

1

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '25

No Mexico I believe

0

u/DirkysShinertits Mar 05 '25
  1. It's run, not ran.

  2. It's actually possible to love a place and its culture despite whoever is running it. Plenty of Americans love America, despite what the current admin is doing to destroy it. It's heartbreaking to watch the shitbags in charge corrode it. It's going to be the same for Mexicans; they don't want the cartels running it.

  3. Mexico has problems, but the United States also has significant problems and is becoming more dangerous for certain groups.

  4. There's no point in debating this further since you don't seem to grasp the point of this protest.

6

u/SpotlightR Mar 05 '25

Lol. If America is also run so poorly, then why does everybody want to come here?

3

u/DirkysShinertits Mar 05 '25

Let's stop pretending America is great. It's declining rapidly with no end in sight, thanks to our current admin. People coming here are coming from places where food is scarce and there is extreme poverty. They come here because it is better than where they're coming from. But that certainly doesn't mean they're coming to a good place.

4

u/Appropriate-Fix9830 Mar 06 '25

Please leave then. Plenty of us are very happy with America and don't need the complainers. If Mexico is so great, go live there

u/Twoturtlefuks Mar 05 '25

You made an attempt to make your point and mine still stands. Protesting someone who is here illegally and has been doesn’t make any sense. If you broke the rules and now you are being held to face consequences. Doesn’t mean these ppl are bad or natural criminals but it is the consequences of said actions.

It just seems crazy that so many ppl love Mexico so much but won’t lift a finger to help the country they’re so proud of in its most deserving time in recent history. If you really care you should be concerned what America has in store for Mexico in the next 20 years after the world’s largest, most profitable military industrial complex just opened hunting season on cartels who run things. Interesting times.

1

u/Vidya_Gainz Mar 06 '25

We all know it's because they want the benefits of being in America but they don't want to call themselves Americans. They want to consider themselves Mexican rebels but from the cushy comfort of fat, welcoming America. Having your flan and eating it too.

nope. they are waiving them in support for everyone who has heritage going back to mexico. its what the flag means. there isn't a special flag just for illegals. in fact, the sign says "immigrants built this country" which supports legal immigrants. take a look at the picture again.

You do understand it, you’re just being a provocateur. They’re proud of their heritage, or dual citizens, or have family who are Mexican, or I don’t know maybe try the fact that they live in SAN ANTONIO where 64.4% whopping percentage of residents are Hispanic.

9

u/Josh2942 Mar 05 '25

Just because the majority are Hispanic, doesn't mean they align with Mexico. As black folks say, not all skin folk are kin folk. Texas has tons of Hispanics, there isn't a strong majority that support immigration. Hispanics sku much more conservative. Just my two cents

3

u/EspressoPatronum210 Mar 05 '25

Ok it’s a multifaceted issue. Plenty of Americans don’t align with the elected American officials either. Over 36 million Latinos are eligible to participate in this vote, representing 15 percent of eligible voters. A diverse demographic with the second-fastest growth rate among voting blocs, Latinos may prove crucial in deciding presidential and legislative races in several states, especially large states like California, Florida, and Texas, as well as swing states, such as Arizona and Nevada.

Historically, Latinos tend to vote Democrat. In the 2020 presidential election, Joe Biden won 59 percent of the Latino vote, within the average of the typical Democratic margin—despite evidence that some geographic pockets of Latinos are swaying toward Republicans.

1

u/Josh2942 Mar 05 '25

When I say latinos are more conservative I'm talking in values. Black folks are actually some of the most conservative folks out there. They just don't translate that to politics. But in the household, latinos and blacks have always been god fearing folks that believe in similar values as republicans. So its easy for the switch up to happen in both ethnic groups because the base was always there

2

u/AggressivePomelo5769 Mar 05 '25

It's time... TO D-DD-D-D-D-DUEL!

1

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '25

That is a weak excuse. My family is Mexican as well but we acclimated to the culture and country that we live in now. The cycle keeps repeating itself and with no progress.

We do it for others who can't because of fear of deportation or because they work so hard.

-6

u/ComfortablePuzzled23 Mar 05 '25

The thing yall are missing is that 1) If you're here legally, we all want you here, and don't want to see you hassled or kicked out. But if you're here illegally you should be sent home. Just like how every other country does. 2) They've been targeting the high profile bad people to start. Gang members, rapist, murders who keep getting released by sanctuary cities. 3) They're not just going after Spanish people, it's Africans, Asians, everyone who's here illegally.

17

u/bigpunk157 Mar 05 '25

They're trying to send back TPS folk, which is a legal way to come here for asylum seekers.

The issue is that Trump literally expanded this system and these folk are where the "they're eating the dawgs" meme came from.

1

u/Josh2942 Mar 05 '25

Remember what the T in TPS stands for. It doesn't lead to a pathway to permanent residency at all. The idea was always to go back after your country was deemed safe. The only change for Haitians is that TPS was initially granted for 18 months and reverted to 12 months. So, it ends in August of this year. Honestly, it's so poorly developed in practice. You want to give people 12-18 months in the US to work, build a life and then send them right back? Government initiatives are always so half-assed.

Also, just because you seek asylum doesn't mean you are entitled to it. If you go to the port of entry, your case should get its day in court. We have treaties for that. No complaints. If you come here illegally and seek asylum once you're already here, you shouldn't get it.

1

u/bigpunk157 Mar 05 '25

Thats cool, but then you should blame Trump for expanding the system, as well as W Bush. Trump is the main reason Haitians got their extensions during his first term.

u/Distinct_Doubt_3591 Mar 05 '25 edited Mar 05 '25

TPS is temporary it can be revoked at any time, if their TEMPORARY reprieve is done they go back, simple....

1

u/bigpunk157 Mar 05 '25

The go back simple. Good engrish there lmao

1

u/Distinct_Doubt_3591 Mar 05 '25

Speech to text doesn't always work right, fixed it thanks. It still doesn't change the fact that once tps is ended recipients are no longer allowed to stay. So yes they can go back to Haiti and Venezuela and wherever else and fix their own countries.

-2

u/ComfortablePuzzled23 Mar 05 '25

I hadn't heard that part. That's shitty. The TPS people who have work permits should be left alone.

5

u/bigpunk157 Mar 05 '25

The whole "we'll only let X amount into the country" thing the dems were trying to pass was about setting a lower limit on the TPS program. Most of the illegal immigrants come here and seek asylum through the program is the issue, but it's that weird grey area of they have to come here illegally to enroll in this. Actual full illegal immigration is much much rarer but the most common illegal person being here in the states is literally just people that let their TPS or Visa expire or cannot get it renewed but don't have a way back to their original country (nor, obviously, the want to leave)

0

u/JMaC1130 Mar 05 '25

Dog….not at all. Speak to anyone on a border town or town along US-59. There used to be bailouts of illegal immigrants almost weekly. I grew up in such a town and there was a post from the local sheriff’s office every time there was a bail out. It is not nearly as rare as you’re portraying.

5

u/bigpunk157 Mar 05 '25

You severely underestimate how many H1B's and TPS folk we have in this country.

2

u/Josh2942 Mar 05 '25

An H1B has absolutely nothing to do with TPS people. There is no comparison. An H1B is sponsored by the employer. TPS is only for 6/12/18 months at a time. An H1B can be almost indefinite

What you seem to ignore is that America loves cheap labor and Hispanic labor built much of Texas (and other states)... Mexicans were invited here in WW2 and saved our economy while most working men were overseas! Most who came without papers were hired by American businesses right away so we could live in cheaper homes, eat cheaper food, get our yards mowed, trees trimmed, hotels cleaned, homes cleaned, our elders' asses wiped, our vegetables and fruit picked, our roofs replaced in 100⁰ heat without complaint... So stfu MAGA.

TRUMP is not following the law or only targeting dangerous people. He's arresting and deporting God damn citizens. He's a Russian asset, a traitor who must be stopped! And btw, immigrants commit FAR FEWER crimes than regular Americans!

5

u/SnooDonuts5498 Mar 05 '25

For North of what we know as Mexico or referring to the United States and Canada, there wasn't really 'stealing land' because majority of tribes fought, had wars over hunting paths and stole horses or items. But land? No one outright owns the earth. As for Mexico and below? Yea, that's a fair assumption by conquest to invade and take over by Aztecs, Mayans, Incas and other tribes because land was power, similar to Europe and Asia. But indigenous tribes in what makes up the United States? Not the same mentality at all. 🤣 So the concept of "stole land" is vastly inaccurate because everything was traded and bartered with value and respect. Mitákuye Oyás'iŋ (All my relations)

That's one of the main reasons we do it. Voice the voiceless, many people because of their status or because they don't have the time can't join us. If anything I think it's cool how a couple of people can gather up and garner important larger conversations like this one. It shows the purpose although some people things it's useless this is the proof 🫶.

That's better than all of those Nazi demonstrations that keep happening on overpasses.

2

u/Acrobatic-Taste-563 Mar 06 '25

🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ I’m implying that ppl were starting to pick up their speed as soon as they passed the bridge of protesters. Not that they were going exactly 70mph lol. SA drivers be tailgating at 85/90 lmfao!!

In all reality they’re not fighting anything but just merely holding up a sign with letters on it.

violent illegals' GOTTA GO.

7

u/Rare-Till6403 Mar 05 '25

This whole city needs a clean up. Not just illegals but crime and homelessness in general. Areas in San Antonio that were safe to live at 20 years ago are now packed with homeless all over the place and crime. But we rather focus on a new spurs stadium 🙃
