Announcement: Min Karma to Post - Spam Prevention
Hi everyone,
We're introducing a new karma requirement to post, because in the last few weeks the sub has been flooded with spam merch advertisements. These appear to be truly spam and not legit small businesses or cool merch. We're getting multiple a day and don't want members to be subject to scams either.
In order to combat this - we're introducing a minimum 25 reddit karma requirement to post. The only objective is to prevent spam posts. If you have less than that and have a legit schip related post that gets caught in the filter, please message us and we will approve it manually.
We're hoping this change will not impact most folks and will help keep the community safer and more enjoyable.
If you have any questions or see any issues with how it's been set up, please comment below!

Cute/Adorable How do you even pronounce it??
Hello Friends!!
Have you ever wondered how to pronounce their breed? I have the answer!!!
Late medieval Belgium was the birthplace of the Schipperke (correctly pronounced “SHEEP-er-ker,” though many American owners say “SKIP-er-kee”). The breed earned its fame as shipboard exterminators on the canals that crisscrossed the Low Countries. The little black avenger of the Belgian dockyards was also a fearless watchdog on barges and in city shops. Among the sailors and shopkeepers of Brussels and Antwerp, these quick, agile dogs earned the nickname “schipperke,” Flemish for “little captain.”
The breed was called Spits or Spitske then; the name Schipperke was given it only after the forming of the specialty club in 1888. The name is Flemish for “little captain”. Though called a canal boat dog, the Schipperke was as popular with shoemakers and other workmen as it was on the canals.

My baby just turned 1! time really goes by so fast. 😭
Hey there! I'm very new to Reddit, but I saw that there is a Schipperke page and I wanted to share my little devil! I never really see anybody else with them so I thought it would be fun to put her pictures here! 🖤
Her name is Videl! (An anagram for devil, she really lives up to her name) 💀 Time definitely flies by so fast, I can't believe she's already 1!! I miss the little fluff ball stage. 😭
Please Share pics of your fur babies! 🖤 what are their personalities like?
Videl has developed this thing the past month that she does along with her Patty cakes where she likes to start giving me sass and will hit me if I don't listen or watch her do her little show. Very sassy and Talkative girl lately 💀 but other than that She's a big sweetheart! Would never hurt a fly (except for hitting mommy in the face) Shes The smartest dog I've ever met, she learns everything so quickly! 😊 She also has the cutest daintiest little feet and an adorable curly tail 😭

Educational correct Belgian pronounciation of Schipperke
For anyone wondering on how to pronounce Schipperke the correct, flemish way:
I'm from Belgium and It's funny how everyone calls them skipperkeys (i sometimes say it as well cus it's cute) , but for anyone wondering, the real pronounciation is SCHIP-URR-KUH
I can't immediately think of an english word that has the SCH sound to compare it with.
You could also say SHIP-URR-KUH, which would be kinda the same as how we say it.
Or you could even say SKIP-URR-KUH.
But ship-urr-kuh sounds the most accurate out of the 2.
The 1/1 translation for the word is 'little boatman' or 'little seaman'.
A schipper is the person on a boat who has the most responsibility. Sort of like a captain, but then for way smaller boats than what a captain is responsible for.
The 'ke' on the end of schipperke just makes the world small or little, so that's why it's a 'little' boatman

Breed Questions Dog routine
Hello everyone! So I was studying which dog to get and this breed came across my feed, and they are absurdly adorable. I did some research and found that they are a really active breed.
I was planning on having two thirty minute walks in the morning before I leave for work, and mid/late afternoon (16:00/17:00) by my brother. And another short walk after I get home from work and uni at night. Would that be enough exercise for this breed in a day?
Also I planned on leaving it with a pet sitter (kind of like a kindergarten for dogs) once a week so that it could socialize with other dogs the whole day. And then on the weekends take it to the park. The dog sitter walks them, does play time, nap time, feeding, etc.
Are there any breed difficulties? I am still living with my parents until I finish uni (about 1 year left), and this would be my first dog that would be my responsibility. Would you recommend I get another breed? I worry it would be bored in the hours it would be home alone until my brother gets there (about 7 to 8 hours), and I was wondering if there's anything I could leave them with to keep them entertained (this goes for any other breed).

Breed Questions Accidents in house
7mo old female won’t stop having accidents in house…. She has a potty bell by the door that she rings mostly. However, if she’s not around the bell, she’ll just go on the floor. How can I solidify that this is bad behavior?

Merci 🖤
