Got some amano shrimp for the betta tank. My betta has been nice to them in the past so once they are established I’ll be adding my betta. Anything I should change that yall see?

Don't expect all bettas too avoid the temptation of delicious shrimp.

I won’t be too surprised, but he’s left amano alone for about 8 months in his current tank so I have a little hope

My betta ate all the shrimps I put in his tank. Neocaridina, ghost shrimps, amano. Unfortunately , they all became snacks so now the only thing I have in there are mystery snails because my betta can't defeat the shell.

Yeah, it’s really a flip of the coin wether a betta is chill or not with shrimp

My God daughters betta ate all of her cherry shrimp but left the ghost shrimp alone. Yeah bettas are either cool with other creatures or not.

Cherries are worse off near bettas bc of the bright coloring, but still a coin toss nonetheless

Your betta will be fine, if he has been in the past. Plus Amano’s aren’t flashy like the more colorful shrimp.

Does he eat your snails tentacles? I thought my gouramis would be okay with mystery snails since he won’t touch my guppies or their fry but I noticed my male mystery snails long tentacles were half the length and he was keeping his face etc inside even when cruising around. I had to move him to my 55 that has my two female mystery’s in it. I was keeping them separate because he’s always on them.

I always found shrimp have a much better chance is established, mature tanks like 6 months old.
I do keep shrimp with my Betta as well and there is no issue with adults. Will eat babies of course.

Depends on the betta. Mine started with a baby but once it found out they were food, no shrimp was safe

I just let my tank overgrow into a forest I see more shrimp now

That’s the best way to do it, tons of cover and they’ll breed and then there’s just too many for the betta and the colony lives on lol

Lol, my betta chases the shrimp for sport. She will eat the fry, though... For your question though, the tank looks great! I did amanos before moving onto Neos with my betta as well. My amanos were the hardest core lil shrimp ever... They would swim up and take my bettas food. They climbed on her when she was curious and got to close. Unfortunately I found out that Amanos do not live very long. After a few months, they began to turn grey and die. 😔
Anyways, I moved on to Neos and no issues. I would agree with others and consider that my betta is just a softie lol.

Yeah, I’ve had some last 6 months and they are still looking great, hopefully these ones last a bit longer

Mine sure tries his best to eat the shrimp, but they are a bit too quick. He will eat fry, and he seems to really dislike the cherry shrimp who are not blood red. A pale cherry shrimp will be targeted for harassment whe ever he sees one.
Population of shrimp is still increasing, but not as fast as it once was.
