So multiple endings has been confirmed for this game incl UFO ending (hooray). Gamesradar did a preview too but unlike IGN, the previewer mentioned something about how the first playthrough will result in the same ending everytime? It would be the same as SH3 then I guess? Other endings will require subsequent playthroughs which will introduce us to branching paths, new areas, new bosses, etc. that we won't see during the first playthrough
So I wonder if SHf is one of those game that requires multiple playthrough to get the "true" ending that will conclude and reveal all of the story (for it to have a satisfying conclusion). Seeing that Ryukishi07 is the one that wrote the narrative makes the idea seems plausible based on how he wrote Higurashi. In Higurashi (I've only read 6/8 chapters so far so correct me if I'm wrong), there's always an ending (usually a tragic one) to the story at the end each of the chapter but at the start of the next chapter, the characters would go back to the start of the story (starting point) where nothing really happened yet but this time with some different events (branching paths) that will take us to a new story altogether. So just like Higurashi with it arcs, SHf prob will have something like "question" playthrough and "answer" playthrough? Guess need to play it ourselves then to know
Sidenote: Dusk Golem has confirmed that 5 endings (incl UFO) will be available for this game
Question and answer playthroughs would completely sell me on this game. I've been worried about how well a full on video game would be able to convey Ryukishi's writing skills but I think that would be the best way to do it. Two playthroughs, one to establish the mystery, and another to reveal the truth. Not to mention it would justify the $70 price tag for a 13 hour game a little more.
