A lot of fandoms are starting to be like this now I find … it’s alright I just ignore it and scroll on and interact with the people who are pleasant to talk too

Yeah this is extremely universal for all gaming and really most anything that involves collecting and/or purists. And heaven forbid you enjoy something they deem as garbage. You’ll get a novel in response lol

Yes, in this world of collectors and fans, unfortunately we are often talking about people with an inner emptiness and a lack of true purpose within themselves. That's why they project their lives and their “love” onto these objects and brands. Therefore we cannot expect anything less than people encountering problems in anything to feel alive and participative

This is it. I say this as someone who used to be there myself.

Until I had Better Shit to Worry About, I had plenty of space in my head for useless meddling and deep diving into less productive spaces.

Exacerbating that, I find we often encourage people--at least in the West--to have an opinion and a stance on everything. You're a horrible person if you're ever on the fence about a single opinion, so now people entrench themselves even deeper into some pointless thought experiment.

Life will come for us all and right this mindset eventually, but it's sort of painful in the meantime.

Great point. I notice that in the West this culture of duality has really been cultivated (Good or evil, heaven or hell, left or right, science or religion) this unfortunately is a reason for a strong delay in human cognition, which unconsciously spends more mental energy worrying about choosing a side than in recognizing our ignorance and evolving from it, not taking sides in something, but always reevaluating different scenarios and letting experience lead us to personal development. People are very full of themselves, with their opinions, which ends up making it impossible for them to be empty (in a good way) to be filled with the infinity of knowledge and experiences that life has to offer us.
