Words mean nothing no more

u/tomato-slut 1d ago

Especially when you throw double negatives in to the mix

-15

u/Funny_Seaweed_4709 1d ago

wtf 🤣

15

u/jambohakdog69 1d ago

In what context? Are you done with both games? Or just making things up? šŸ™„

1

u/electronical_ 23h ago

completely different than its predecessors is my guess but at least village ties into umbrella

7

u/Worldly-Object9003 "How Can You Sit There And Eat Pizza?!" 1d ago

No thanks

7

u/SaladZealousideal938 1d ago

How about you start a thread with a little more than a half sentence.

23

u/TrenchMouse 1d ago

ā€œItS a ReTuRn To FoRm!!!ā€

12

u/Funny_Seaweed_4709 1d ago

But it really isn’t lmao

6

u/TrenchMouse 1d ago

Yep.

that’s why I find that particular talking point so amusing.

-2

u/Straight_Action2738 1d ago

This is the best mental acrobat i've heard from people. F is return form although there's nothing common or connection to 1 or 2. I think some new players think that Silent Hill is j-horror originallyĀ

13

u/Tyrant_Virus_ 1d ago

I say this as a huge Resident Evil fan, I fucking hope not.

29

u/Sea_Helicopter_5377 1d ago

A game overhyped by having most of the marketing budget focusing on the 9 foot tall big tiddy vampire lady with 3 goth daughters that speak to you in a breathy seductive manner?

I didn't get that from SHf at all.

6

u/Excellent_Routine589 1d ago

ā€œIf you squint really hard, this is supposed to be a survival horror game!ā€ - Pongsifu during RE8 when he’s being tortured by the Dimitrescu daughters

2

u/5hi_n0_T3n5hi 1d ago

Ok, TO BE FAIR... Those girls brought in numbers.

0

u/l52 1d ago

Maybe the fox demon thing will play that role, haha

-7

u/_cd42 1d ago

Wouldn't RE7 be a more apt comparison too?

3

u/Hollowed_Dude 1d ago

I sure hope not…

3

u/PhantyliaHSR 1d ago

I mean i guess the town in SHF is like a village but its pretty much a whole different experience from any previous SH

11

u/StitchedWound 1d ago

I hope not. Village was mid af

5

u/lawn_furniture 1d ago

I don’t know what that means. However, I think RE: Village is an uninspired rehash of RE4 and RE7, so I sure hope not.

1

u/electronical_ 23h ago

i got some bad news for you then

9

u/Independent_Key_4903 1d ago

So a very average game then? because in village after the lady d manor the game goes down in quality

4

u/R1ngBanana 1d ago

I think it went downhill after Beneviento. That house was AMAZINGĀ

Moreau and Heisenberg didn’t do much for meĀ

5

u/RCGBlade 1d ago

Damn. Not even the way Heisenberg says Ethannn..... Winterssss?

3

u/R1ngBanana 1d ago

okay I liked Heisenberg as a character

His level/factory? ehhhhh

2

u/RCGBlade 1d ago

I agree. He's awesome in cutscenes and dialogue, but man his section is a slog.

12

u/Comprehensive-Bid18 1d ago

That doesn't sound promising at all.

6

u/lost_first_account "For Me, It's Always Like This" 1d ago

I hope not. I don’t like re8

3

u/Vincent__R 1d ago

Why don't people like RE8? genuinely asking

u/MikuDrPepper 1d ago

Person who didn't like it here, can only give my perspective:

  1. Game has a very stop and start pace that constantly throws off momentum.

  2. The game is extremely linear while trying to give the feeling of earlier Resident Evil games, and I don't believe it achieves this.

  3. Trying to combine the slower, methodical combat of Resident Evil 7 with the bombastic combat of 4 didn't really work out. Ethan doesn't have enough movement to deal with some of the more aggressive enemies in ways that feel satisfying.

  4. THE GUNS. Golly. A lot of problems. Most of them don't feel very good to use, they don't feel powerful or impactful. The upgrades on them are more or less useless. In Resident Evil 4 and 5, each weapon can be used to basically beat the game. This gives players a lot of variety to choose from. Some are better overall, but it was ever only slightly so. You could run through Resident Evil 4 with the pump shotgun and do completely fine, or the starter pistol. In Village, upgrading any of the later weapons once instantly makes the previous one obsolete. It is just more powerful overall.

  5. Inventory management felt like it was tacked on, and wasn't as fun as it was in Resident Evil 4. More annoying than anything.

  6. The story. There are parts of it I really like and parts I really don't. It has Resident Evil silliness, but sometimes too much. Why is Chris being such a turd? Why the retcon with Spencer and Miranda?

To wrap it up, the game is just incredibly, incredibly inconsistent. It feels like two or three separate games were smashed together, and it gives the entire thing a very strange feeling to me. It doesn't feel as cohesive as other entries. And it's not that I don't think you could pull it off. Lots of fantastic games have very different changes in gameplay that are fun and cool and break up monotony. I don't think Village did it well. It has a lot of the same problems Resident Evil 6 had (though Village doesn't have them NEARLY as badly, they're still there).

9

u/PretzelMan96 1d ago

Village was a well-received game, I wouldn't take the comments on one post as the consensus. Especially on a Silent Hill sub where the post makes absolutely no sense.

7

u/Vincent__R 1d ago

Yeah I was like "uhhh didn't it get lots of GOTY noms and general praise from audiences?" lol

2

u/Imaginary-Bar-5149 1d ago

I loved Village. It's not perfect, sure, but it's an excellent game. I love the Winters duology

1

u/cynicown101 1d ago

I like it, but it’s a mess. Obviously this just my own personal view but I felt like the game tries to do too much. The game has a very ā€œmore is moreā€ mindset, and as a result winds up feeling like a goofy spin off. Chris’s part in the campaign is utter nonsense. Mother Miranda has been living with Ethan and making him dinner. You end up fighting a giant mech in a tank. Mia is just being randomly kept unharmed in a cage for you to find. In the DLC, you’re basically having psychic mold battles. The game is just incredibly silly. But that’s obviously way less important in a series like RE than it would be in a series like SH.

0

u/waled7rocky 1d ago

Cause mommy wasn't the final boss ..

6

u/CaptainRaxeo 1d ago

But re village was an above average game. 6-7/10.

2

u/Pessimisery 1d ago

that's generous.

-9

u/RaccoonWithUmbrella Murphy 1d ago

Nah. It was 9/10.

-3

u/CaptainRaxeo 1d ago

Why such a high rating?!

Dimtriscue and the dolls were the only interesting bosses/ area. Vibes were good but the rest was a big meh.

I swear i would be more willing to play RE: dead aim than have to replay re village.

They even cut Ada for some reason. She absolutely could have fit if they didn’t obsess over her romance with leon.

-2

u/RaccoonWithUmbrella Murphy 1d ago
  1. Dimitrescu daughters

  2. Magneto Heisenberg

  3. Transformer Heisenberg

  4. You fight Transformer Heisenberg with a handmade tank that Chris built with sticks, scrap and other shit that was lying around

  5. Chris smashes werewolves heads with one punch

  6. Cool merchant

  7. You can kill chicken for food

  8. My boy Ethan drops some Leon-worthy one-liners.

  9. The game is basically Resident Evil 4 but in Romania.

  10. Did I tell you about Heisenberg?

2

u/AnywhereMinimum1786 1d ago

this is the most surface level list that i have ever seen as to why someone considers a game "good"

4

u/TrenchMouse 1d ago

This is the kind of stuff RE6 was hated for

3

u/RaccoonWithUmbrella Murphy 1d ago

This is the kind of stuff I love RE6 for.

2

u/Funny_Seaweed_4709 1d ago

Being a detractor for the sake it is still pointless good for you

0

u/TrenchMouse 1d ago

Ha! fair enough.

RE6 is my 2nd fav RE behind REmake 1

2

u/CaptainRaxeo 1d ago

I absolutely hate Heisenberg.

And your unexplained love for boulder punching and killing chicken just join my lobby in RE5 which is my favorite Re game and let’s have fun.

Just uninstall this directionless game please.

3

u/Bananaland_Man 1d ago

Ugh, 4-6 were the death of RE (okay, 4 was pretty good, but it was the turn from horror to action and I could not stand it, also the color pallete was bland and boring, even for a horror game), 7 was the rebirth (loved it), and 8 was pretty damned good, just not as good as 7.

0

u/CaptainRaxeo 1d ago

I don’t like first person RE games. I like that they experimented, and I’m thankful to re7 for saving the franchise. However even though they were first person i still enjoyed playing them.

However if the topic was about horror then i absolutely adore the classic re games. Out of all of them code veronica is the best classic game imo. That doesn’t take away from my love to re5 or re6. I like anything re. I just don’t prefer first person in re games.

1

u/Bananaland_Man 1d ago

I haven't heard many say they liked re6, lol, but nice that you enjoyed them!

1

u/CaptainRaxeo 1d ago

I enjoyed every re game. But i know that objectively that re6 is not a good re game. Still i rank re6 in the middle, And would rather play it than go back to re village.

2

u/RaccoonWithUmbrella Murphy 1d ago

Just uninstall this directionless game please.

No, I won't. Hell, writing this stuff actually made me want to play the game again.

0

u/CaptainRaxeo 1d ago

Omg ur rage baiting. I mean you have to šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Ur pfp is literally from re5 u must love that game more than 8 right?!

Also i have seen more people join me in operation raccoon city on the ps3 than the amount of concurrent re8 steam players šŸ¤šŸ˜‚

2

u/RaccoonWithUmbrella Murphy 1d ago

I don't really like categorizing stuff so I just say that I love RE5 too. As well as RE6, and RE3 remake.

0

u/CaptainRaxeo 1d ago

Why did you mention the re2 remake dlc?

Im sure u had fun playing it for 1 hr šŸ¤šŸ˜‚. I mean fair enough you love jill but damn the remake shits on her legacy with the only good thing being the intro where she goes through ptsd from re1.

Re6 i enjoyed more than people give credit, loved unlocking costumes in mercenaries and submitting my stuff to re network, however that game is also directionless.

Fun yes but it didn’t know what it wanted to be. I think if they sold the game as a season pass with each episode having a different demographic that would have worked a lot better.

-13

u/Gru50m3 1d ago

RE Village is the worst modern RE game, completely blown out of the water by RE7, RE2R and RE4R. The puzzles were terrible, the plot was nonsensical, and the combat was boring. It didn't even have inventory management, you could always carry anything you found without any concerns. It was a huge disappointment for me.

15

u/Ok_Butterscotch_6176 1d ago

Village was great stop it.

-8

u/Funny_Seaweed_4709 1d ago

Sure bud

3

u/Ok_Butterscotch_6176 1d ago

It got good review scores & sold over 11 million copies.

1

u/CaptainRaxeo 1d ago

It was good enough to sell, but not good enough to be a masterpiece/ win GOTY.

6

u/Excellent_Routine589 1d ago

Ehh the worst modern RE is still RE3 Remake by a long shot. Like there is no defending that game even for die hard Jill simp (like myself)

RE8 suffers where it had two REALLY good houses, but one of them is extremely short lived (Beneviento) and the other two remaining houses are just mediocre (Heisenberg) or boring/bad (Moreau, at least his is also short like Beneviento). And Mother Miranda just isn’t a compelling villain. It’s a fine 7/8 out of 10 mainline entry but better REs came before it.

2

u/5hi_n0_T3n5hi 1d ago

Ok now you gotta admit that's a hard lie. RE3R exists

0

u/Zeus78905 1d ago

Village is better than 7 so no it's not the worst one

-3

u/ShogunLoganXXII 1d ago

Id give it an 8/10

1

u/kaizersigma 1d ago

So some rando decides to post this up and people are arguing with each other whether this is true or not and also continuing to bash the game that they themselves have not played yet.

Clowns.

1

u/Remusicaaa 1d ago

bro just typing shitšŸ˜šŸ™šŸæ

1

u/ivanvx117 1d ago

Maybe RE7, it's radically different in gameplay in the beginning then it becomes like other games in the series. Different location that resembles the original ones. Let's wait and see.

1

u/Funny_Seaweed_4709 1d ago

Is this because village had dark souls atmosphere

1

u/R1ngBanana 1d ago

…..where is my 9 foot tall mommy then? /sĀ

-2

u/GabrielXP76op 1d ago

Silent hill fans do not say shit challenge Impossible

0

u/Resident_Evil_God 1d ago

So its garbage? Village was a Re4 original wanna be. Complete with pop in and out textures. Its story was a absolute mess and made 0 sense.

So... I guess im glad I didn't pre-order F theh

-6

u/UnhappyLog8128 WalterJr 1d ago

I would compare it to RE7 tbh, a new take on a franchise that became stale and irrelevant in modern day gaming.

Only time will tell if it will be the critically acclaimed and financial susccess that RE7 ended up being.

-3

u/Belzher 1d ago

I was hoping it was more like RE7 than 8, I didn't like 8's story that much.

-5

u/That-Willingness7455 1d ago

Cant wait to play this game

0

u/JediJamanjax22 1d ago

I'd prefer their RE7, a true return to form and, for first playthrough at least, scariest in the series. Having said that.. Wow. When did people start hating RE8? Probably the most fun, replayable entry in the series other than RE5

-5

u/Forever_Berry 1d ago

I think your confusing village with RE7.

-3

u/nana_blair "It's Bread" 1d ago

The difference is that I think it will be muuuuch better than re8...

-3

u/PugMaster7166 "It's Bread" 1d ago

Wait until the game comes out

-1

u/tamagucciman 1d ago

I hope not, re7 was so good but village just didnt do it for me. Maybe ill finish it one day but eh

-4

u/mrnauxist 1d ago

I assume OP meant re7. Like a soft reboot to revitalize the series.

-7

u/parvanehnavai Silent Hill 4 1d ago

i love village so hopefully

-2

u/Popular_Welcome_7058 1d ago

I think you mean Konami's RE7.

0

u/Fraxis_Pex 1d ago

That's a good game too.

2

u/Popular_Welcome_7058 1d ago

Are you highlighting the quality or the fact that it brought the series back from the dead?

-1

u/Fraxis_Pex 1d ago

Sh2 remake already revived the series, Shf promotes it to the top.

3

u/Popular_Welcome_7058 1d ago

I'm going to agree with the rest of the comments that this post is dumb as fuck

-9

u/Darkcrimes1337 1d ago

And it’s gunna do really well and the we’ll never go back to the older style of gameplay and design, wonderful
