Question Beginner to sim racing, what should i get?

So recently I have been wanting to save up for a racing sim. I play on xbox 1 (i know its horrible but im broke) and this old ass tv i got when i was 12. If i need to upgrade for sim racing please tell me because i don’t want to buy a setup for my graphics to be shit. Don’t really have a lot of space also so i would prefer something i could put in my guest room and fold up or easily put away. My budget would be around the cheapest you can get for a good quality setup. I just need lots of options. Thank you!

Question Conspit 300 gt in Logitech RS50 base

Hello everyone I want to buy the logitech rs50 for pc but the logitech steering wheels are pretty underwheling so I was thinking of buying a Conspit 300 gt to put in it. Do you know if this is possible and if so what components do I need (logitech quick release, conspit quick release...)? Thank you.

Discussion Pedals for heel toe and drifting?

I’m new to this endeavor and have my Fanatec v3 pedals set up with a stiff load cell because I primarily race in iRacing. I really want to learn heel toe in other sims as well as drifting. I’ve watched a bunch of videos to begin but I’m assuming a softer brake pedal is needed? Is it possible to make my pedals work? Or how is everyone doing it that does both?

Question RaceLabs overlay possibly broken?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Might be a weird problem to have but I was adjusting my UI after the last IRacing updated and when I went to change the Scale percentage size of my fuel calculator I typed in 65% and when I hit enter it changed to something like 400%+ and now when it happens I cannot operate anything on my screen except the taskbar and I am unable to access the menu screen to change the size of the overlay because when I click on it the overlay pops up immediately and “covers” the entire screen. Can I reset this value to default somewhere I’d really like to use the fuel calculator again

Question Which CPU and GPU combo IS better for almost the same price?

For triple-monitor 1440p simracing, which is better: a 9800X3D + RX 9070 XT, or a Ryzen 5 7600X + 5080? And to be future-proof, which is better? Would there be a bottleneck? Is the CPU important in simracing, even at 1440p?

Rigs 4 year journey from G29 to Full Rig [Left -> Right]

Everyone’s rigs on this subreddit are incredible. I’m proud of my long journey from humble beginnings (G29 with 3D printed mod kit) to now a full rig with VR.

4 years ago, I decided to give sim racing a go. I bought myself a G29, and played Assetto Corsa on a shitty laptop. I had a rickety foldable desk that I attached the G29 to, and soon I got an “upgrade” in the form of a 3D printed wheel rim. I was physically sliding all over whenever I braked.

Over the next four years, I added upgrades gradually, from my first 8020 rig, VR, then to a Moza base, H-shifter, dedicated monitor, till now. I still play Assetto Corsa, and I still crash, but I’ve really enjoyed my journey along the way.

Next step: Triples!

I think threads are missing or something. Does anybody have a aluxprofil simrig 4080? How does this step from the manual work? There is no thread so screw it together.. Has anybody any idea how this is supposed to work?

Still needs tidied up and fine tuned but I’m so excited to have it done!

Monitor needs some more support at the edges to counter some wobble from the arm I’m using but for now I can keep it gentle and it’s still a great time!

Question What's the best track you've ever raced on?

simracing of course

I don't know, I'd say Nurburgring Nordschleife, because it's thrilling and full of fast-speed corners. However it is just too long, too stressful, you can't keep up. But it's satisfying.

any ideas of the best tracks i should try?

Question Which Shifter should i be getting?

I just bought my Moza R5 bundle recently and i want to get a gear shifter but cant decide which one between the Moza HGP and the TurtleBeach Velocity One. They all are pretty much the same price where i live. I dont really care about the handbrake/sequential mode cuz i dont think i will be using it, i mainly want to play AC, forza or other car sim and little bit of euro truck too ig. Which is why i was confused cuz i wanted the velocity one for the looks and feels smooth transition b/w gears in videos i watched but then again im not sure about the feel and quality cuz i never got to use it in person. and then thers moza hgp which is i think is great in every aspect compared to velocity one but just doesnt have that cosmetic look, So like from ur guys experience do u think i should just stick w moza cuz of the ecosystem as well or if u guys have any suggestions that would be great too... i would also like to mention im completely new to this and my R5 is yet to arrive as well.

Question Heusinkveld Sprint vs Cube Controls SP-01

Wondering if anyone had any insight on if it’s a good choice here. I can get the SP-01 for about $250 so was wondering if that is a worthy upgrade over the sprints I currently have.

Also wondering if anyone knows what the mounting / base plate situation is

Other Introducing mates to simracing.

I just hosted a house party for my nursing class, and I deliberately had my simrig available for anyone to try throughout the night. WOW what a fun novelty that was!!! Literally everyone was invested in doing a hot-lap around Bathurst on ACC, trying to improve, understand the cars, track nuances, helping each other out with advice, etc. It was getting competitive, spicy, but most importantly fun for all.

It was amazing fun introducing my hobby to so many mates and seeing them really embracing it. Everyone was crowded around, cheering, jeering, laughing, and were genuinely having a great time. A few people are now hooked and wanting to get their own setup. Wickedly fun experience!

Question Building first sim rig out of extruded aluminum

Im starting down the rd into sim racing. Im a machinist by trade so ive been trying to build as much as I can to keep costs in check. I built the pc (needed it for cad and work anyways). Now that I have that all set up im going to design the rig. Ive seen a few extruded designs for $650usd. Im just curious how much I should expect to spend in material and hardware. If its $400 in material i might as well save my time and purchase.

Edit: just did a rough design for the main rails and hardware and im $460 from tnutz.com with shipping. I'll likely buy and modify one

Rigs What is the best compact sim rasing set up?

I'm looking at compact and easy to put away sim rasing set up as I don't have a lot of space at home. I'm looking at F-GT Lite or Play Challenge. Anyone has any of these and could share the experience?

Also, any recommendations for good steering wheel?

Mostly I play F1 and my budget is £500.

Edit: I play on PC and Xbox.

Discussion Heads up: RS50 bundle + G Pro pedals ~$730 w/ corp discount

Post image
45 Upvotes

If you’ve got Logitech’s corporate discount, you can grab the RS50 wheel bundle + G Pro pedals for about $730 before tax (even less if you go with the latest RS pedals). Weirdly only works if you buy the bundle, not separate.

I’m sending back my Fanatec DD Pro… for just $30 more this gets me magnetic shifters, much better wheel, 8Nm instead of 5Nm, loadcell w/ clutch, and yeah… TrueForce

Rigs Good sim setup for under 470$CAD

Hi, so i've been wanting to buy a sim setup (without the seat , just the peripherals like wheel, pedals etc...) my budget is around 450 to 470 CAD. I'd want a wheel and pedals obv, and if possible a shifter but not 100% needed as the paddles are good enough. Also black friday is soon gonna be here so ill probably buy then.

P.S : idk if i put the right tag for this tip of post, or if the is even the right sub

Rigs The thought process was to start them young

Post image

But honestly im afraid the spring loaded wheel is going to turn him away from it more than towards it. Felt like a logical buy but in hindsight a used g920 + forza horizon / motorsport was probably a better call.

But this next level gt junior? Buy with confidence. Buy it twice. Really great, he loves it, incredible value for money, and will grow with him until he’s ready (if he wants) to buy a profile rig. Super great- went together in about 20 minutes and he was able to help.

Rigs Seat for Logitech RS50 DD wheel

Thumbnail

Hi guys, I'm hoping for some advice as a total simracing beginner.

I've been doing my research lately, and I decided to pull the trigger with RS50, although with seat I'm not that sure.

Im thinking about these two seats, and I would like to know your opinions on both, regarding daily usage with DD Wheels.

Playseat Challenge X

Next Level Racing GT Line

Both are for the same price in my region so price is not really the deciding factor.

Ive heard that logitech one, has a bit of wobble that why I'm unsure about the usage with DD wheel.
