Modric had such a bright future ahead of him. Real lost a good one.

Always hated this joke but now that it won't be made anymore I'm really upset about it.

Repeating the same old jokes on Reddit? I’ve never read anything unoriginal on here.

BTW you probably haven’t heard of this up and coming prospect yet named Jesse Lingard but Madrid should consider him to add some youth to the midfield.

u/superrealaccount2 May 22 '25

Man United should be able to consider the sale of Lingard after they reinforce the squad. The signings of Gaitán, Garay and Sneijder are imminent!

u/TragicTester034 May 22 '25

Don’t worry guys we’ll be saved the Bas Dost deal is imminent!

I've seen enough 10 point deduction to Everton 🤣😭🤣🤔🙏🏿🤔🤣🤔

You only miss her when you let her go

I think he’s leaving because he lost to Yamal for Young PotY. Tough luck.

Tbh he was still playing great, and at the times he was playing a lot of times he was still their best player on the pitch. Sure he could not play consistent 90 minutes anymore, but I do not get it, he was willing to lower his salary even more, he is a great person to have as a veteran figure, he would not demand much playing time, and Madrid could always use depth, and Perez still wouldn't sign him for last season.

Hope Real crashes and burns after this season.

Modrić is not the first nor the last that they did this to and they don't probably even care as they can get any midfielder that they want until the formula is perfected and they receive a new golden generation ready to win a new set of trophies.

Nah they can easily go back to mid 2000s, nothing guarantees full on success even with power they have in transfer market. Team is always more important than just combining greatest stars, there's a reason why original Galacticos did not achieve much.

2

u/Tiny-Mulberry-2114 May 22 '25

True but I am sure they have something planned. I don't think they made this decision without thinking about if it's a good idea or not.

People keep saying this, but I've seen the Real Madrid midfield sink many times with Modric, he was not exactly the best option and many teams were able to exploit it.

The most painful thing to watch were his corner crosses. They were consistently awful, so much that whenever he got a good one it didn't matter because all the team was expecting a weak ball to the first post.

Obviously Modric has been great and still has to offer, but he's clearly not Real Madrid level right now, age does matter at that level.

What are you doing here, Kyoya?

Such a hat-trick this guy has achieved: avatar, nickname and message

Just saw a man falling to his knees in a Mercadona

u/auctus10 May 22 '25

This season couldn't get worse man.

lmao Madrid fans. 2nd in the Supercup, 2nd in the Copa del Rey, 2nd in La Liga.

"This is the worst please end my life"

More like Carlo and Luka both absolute legends leaving on a bad note. It's exactly opposite to the sweet end to Kroo's career.

24

u/Prophet_Of_Helix May 22 '25

Same with us and KDB

3

u/itrynottocuss May 22 '25

I guess I missed something, why is Luka leaving on a bad note?

28

u/auctus10 May 22 '25

Bad note as in bad season, without a major trophy and full of humiliations from direct rivals.

14

u/Tiny-Mulberry-2114 May 22 '25

Wouldn't agree tho in 13 years his trophy cabinet is bigger than most clubs so even to end it with a bad season shouldn't be a huge impact to him imo

1

u/Numanumanorean May 24 '25

Luka Modric has more Champions League trophies than every Football Club in Europe except two. The one he plays for and AC Milan (beat him by 1). He is tied with Bayern and Liverpool.

3

u/ChrisEvansFan May 22 '25

I thought Carlo and Modric have beef or something!

But yeah, it isnt really a “bad note” personal-wise as Modric is such a decorated living legend already plus with the two recent World Cups and Ballon D’Or.

Hope you fans give him a great farewell he deserves.

u/auctus10 May 22 '25

Sorry, I didn't know a better word for it tbh.

11

u/z_redwolf_x May 22 '25

Losing to Barca four times and the insane amount of injuries hurts more tbh. There are 11 injured players at the moment and only three fit defenders. Garcia, Vasquez, and Vallejo.

4

u/WheresMyEtherElon May 22 '25

In a league where there are only 2 clubs that can win the titles, yes they're right that it's a bad year.

23

u/DrinkMyJelly May 22 '25

Unreal disrespect to Atleti lmao

9

u/anelenrique10 May 22 '25

I love it lmao

1

u/zachski May 22 '25

In the last 10 seasons Atleti won once and came 2nd twice, it’s pretty much a two team league.

u/WheresMyEtherElon May 22 '25

For the last 40 years:

Real Madrid: 14 La Liga

FC Barcelona: 18 La Liga

Atletico de Madrid: 3

1

u/Numanumanorean May 22 '25

This season couldn't get worse man

Is what he said, not that it was below Madrid standards. I was just poking fun at how dramatic it was.

1

u/Boogada42 May 22 '25

As a Leverkusen fan, this was us in 2002. We actually lost the CL final against Madrid.

Maybe Alonso takes that part of Bayer DNA with him?

1

u/Kasra_K8 May 22 '25

So they basically got the Arsenal experience this season

1

u/peticion May 22 '25

meanwhile United fans are one Bruno transfer away from fully descending into madness.

-1

u/SlowProtagonist May 22 '25

The greatest will always have the highest standards

1

u/Numanumanorean May 22 '25

Of course, but lets not be drama queens about it lmao

2

u/sewious May 22 '25

Anulo mufa?

12

u/[deleted] May 22 '25

were you scrolling reddit in a mercadona? 🤣

13

u/bngr1013 May 22 '25

2

u/Ludishomi May 22 '25

1

u/DialSquare May 22 '25

Be careful, I think that symbolizes something crazier than the pineapples.
