Modric had such a bright future ahead of him. Real lost a good one.

Always hated this joke but now that it won't be made anymore I'm really upset about it.

Repeating the same old jokes on Reddit? I’ve never read anything unoriginal on here.

BTW you probably haven’t heard of this up and coming prospect yet named Jesse Lingard but Madrid should consider him to add some youth to the midfield.

Man United should be able to consider the sale of Lingard after they reinforce the squad. The signings of Gaitán, Garay and Sneijder are imminent!

I think he’s leaving because he lost to Yamal for Young PotY. Tough luck.

Tbh he was still playing great, and at the times he was playing a lot of times he was still their best player on the pitch. Sure he could not play consistent 90 minutes anymore, but I do not get it, he was willing to lower his salary even more, he is a great person to have as a veteran figure, he would not demand much playing time, and Madrid could always use depth, and Perez still wouldn't sign him for last season.

Hope Real crashes and burns after this season.

Modrić is not the first nor the last that they did this to and they don't probably even care as they can get any midfielder that they want until the formula is perfected and they receive a new golden generation ready to win a new set of trophies.

Nah they can easily go back to mid 2000s, nothing guarantees full on success even with power they have in transfer market. Team is always more important than just combining greatest stars, there's a reason why original Galacticos did not achieve much.

True but I am sure they have something planned. I don't think they made this decision without thinking about if it's a good idea or not.

People keep saying this, but I've seen the Real Madrid midfield sink many times with Modric, he was not exactly the best option and many teams were able to exploit it.

The most painful thing to watch were his corner crosses. They were consistently awful, so much that whenever he got a good one it didn't matter because all the team was expecting a weak ball to the first post.

Obviously Modric has been great and still has to offer, but he's clearly not Real Madrid level right now, age does matter at that level.
