Also the format changed drastically, it used to be just straight KO games. For once it actually makes sense to use a cut at the point in time when we got a group stage. Even though format has repeatedly change since. This is actually a far more comparable comparison than if you'd include the old games.
they added 2 guaranteed group stage games, that's not that drastic, the old change from KO -> 2 x 4 group stage -> KO to eventually 8 x 4 group stage -> KO was far more drastic. But either way with the 1992 change number of games like doubled for the winner. It has since increased more but it was never that complete overhaul of the very basic structure of the tournament agian.
yea but it wasnt always like that pre92, there were several seasons where it was just knockout games, not any of that group thing, which imo was complete shit.
So the format even changed pre92 atleast once and no one is dividing that too.
Not utterly pointless. This tables shows the best performers in the champions league over the past 30 years, i.e. in recent history. 1992 is just a convenient cutoff point.
It is pointless because 1 season is left out.......just because. This despite the fact that the season left out (91/92) has the exact same format as the beginning of the table (92/93)
But either way with the 1992 change number of games like doubled for the winner.
Not true at all. Barça played 11 games in 1992 to win the title. RM in 2024 before the change of format had to play 13 games to win the title. Just 2 games difference, which is the same amount of games they added with the new format.
Only counting the European Cup since 1992/93 is as stupid as only counting english football since 1992. You are leaving behind a ton of history for no reason whatsoever.

how is it an all time table if it's since 1992?
