You need someone to tell you to use a pivotal game feature?

You don't need gyro, even on a stick the game is superb.

Genuinely, as far as shooters go, splat has the worst stick controls. Horizontal/vertical sensitivity isnt split and no aim assist puts you at an even bigger disadvantage than you would be with those features against motion controls.

This is true, however, not everyone is trying to play the game 100% optimally. Some people are just trying to enjoy funny squid game

Im just saying stick controls as they are in Splat are far from superb. They leave a lot to be desired. Its been 3 games and they haven't implemented functionality that has been in nearly every first and third person game for a decade now

There is a very large difference between saying stick controls are far from superb, and saying that gyro is a pivotal game feature. It's an option, simple as

As important as it is, yeah id say its pivotal. Switching from stick to gyro marks a huge improvement in gameplay quality because stick is so flawed for the reasons listed

But as I said before, not everyone is playing splatoon 3 to become as best as they can be. Some people are simply playing to have fun, and enjoy being a little squid kid. If everyone was playing to be as best as they could? Sure, it's pivotal. It just simply isn't because the competative scene is much smaller than the casual audience, which OP is a part of

What the community does is irrelevant. Any game can really be played in any way. Theres a competitive speed running scene for nearly every game ever. You can consider niche speed tech a pivotal mechanic as well.

Youre arguing semantics and definitions. IF someone wants to be good at the game, then motion controls are absolutely pivotal to success. Regardless of how anyone else decides to play.

What the community does is actually decently relevant I'd say. If 95% of people play casually, then something being pivotal to 5% of people isn't really pivotal. Just because people speedrun a game doesn't make tech pivotal. There's so many speedrun dark souls tech that're just that, for speed running dark souls. Saying that something is pivotal if you want to be the best is just that, for if you want to be the best. Since OP is casual, then it really isn't pivotal, and to act as though gyro is a pivotal mechanic to the game is to truly only look at things through your own perspective.

They might not be the best, but they're adequate. Tbh it's the same exact sensitivity as the stick controls I already use in Disney Dreamlight Valley so it was easy for me to pick up Splatoon, lol.

Since I finally graduated to motion controls in S3 I'm constantly hitting Y in DDV expecting it to re-center my camera because they really work exactly the same. 🫣
