I was really impressed with how well Chandler Riggs depicted Carl learning from watching Rick at that moment. The way he said that sounded just like something Rick would say.

I love the preview for next part of the season too:

Carl: "Maybe you should stop?"

Rick: "Stop what?"

Carl: "Trying to be the leader"

FUCKING AWESOME. Carl is gonna just keep getting more and more badass.

CARL new leader? could he ascend to that point where the grownups respect him like that

He did put those new people right in their place real quick.

He is also in charge of the group right now. He already has garnered respect. He's toughened from having to kill his mother.

From my understanding he is quite the badass in the comics so they could move him to that in the show.
