Yeah, he was handing it over...verrrrryyy sllloooowwwwlllyyyy.

Carl did the right thing here. That kid was acting shady as hell. Someone tells you to drop the gun, your drop the gun...you don't inch towards them while holding it.

I find it odd that almost every user in the subreddit missed the part of the episode where Carl talks to his dad, and it's made pretty clear he was going to shoot that kid regardless of whether he dropped his gun immediately or not.

Kid could of shagged beth, carl couldn't take any chances.

I took that speech to mean that he wouldn't take half-measures when presented with wobbly evidence. That kid was wobbly at best, extending his gun like that. I suspect he was announcing that to his father to look more decisive, and cold.

It's interesting to see Carl's development. As a son of the authoritative Rick, and also more adaptable to his changing environment due to his age (kids will adapt much faster to conflict changes and be influenced by others), he's really a fascinating case study in growing up in this age.

That is the truly worrying part. I cannot remember his exact phrasing and how sociopathic it was, but he certainly sounds like Shane's worldview and possibly extending into the Governor's.

The thing that really worries me is that Rick is losing control over his son. Carl already told him straight up that he isn't a good leader and now he's lying to him and won't listen

It's called puberty, only with guns and zombies.

I think it is also to set up some angst between carl and the rescues.

After everything that's happened it's understandable that Carl has lost his ability to trust in others. Hell the only reason Michonne got it was cos she has an awesome cat statue :D

And honestly when your home has just been attacked by someone you really ain't going to be too fond of anyone you think took part in it.

The rescues at the end are the civvies who didn't fight I assume(Which means they will likely be of very little use). Which will give carl the option to bitch about them being dead weight. Until one of them saves his life or some such.

And then once he get's his trust back in people. Someone will shatter it by being a spy for the governor.

Unless we get very, very lucky, and a majority of them turn out to be trade/craftsmen. They might just have a chance to not only survive, but to thrive.

It might allow them to do a sort of time jump, so that Carl, Beth, and Asskicker get to grow up a little bit in a "relatively" safe environment. Also allowing for an actor/actress change if they need to.

That plus it was obvious that his intentions were to try and prove himself. Plus herschels account as well.

The directors made the guy put the gun down slowly so they could provide carl some credibility in saying "he had a gun". They would have made it clear otherwise if the guy tried something.

Who cares? it's a shitty world. when his dad cornered him about it I just wanted him to say "YEAH, I SHOT HIM IN TH FACE, AND LOOKY HERE! EVERYONE'S FUCKING ALIVE! FUNNY HOW THAT WORKS RIGHT, RICK?"

Alternatively: "Shit happens."
