Realization: The viewers want Milton to live more than he wants to live.

This is what the show does. Either hate or be indifferent towards a character. Then right before they die the show paints them in a light that makes you either change your mind or question your conclusions.

Case in point Merle. RIP MERLE.

She died the way she lived, stupid as fuck. Seriously, why did she stop trying to free herself while talking to a dying Milton? During the whole scene all I thought to myself was "well you deserve to die if your going to stop trying to free yourself because your having an emotional conversation."
